“Ouch.” Makayla winced.”

With a pained expression she rubbed her cheek. “I think I just got slapped in the face by your modesty.”

“Oh, very funny. Just wait until Friday – the other artists at this gallery event will make me look like the Mother Teresa of modesty. Plus you’ll get to meet Liam. The guy makes me want to stick a paintbrush in my eye.”

“Hmm, have I met Liam yet?”

“Trust me – if you had, you’d remember. Liam is kind of a blunt instrument but thinks he’s the James Bond of the art scene.
