Barakel’s Mask by Joel Crofoot
BLURB
For the last few millennia Barakel has been lusting after his best
friend, even protecting him for their whole sentence in hell, but now back on
earth he must face reality and the reality is that Sahariel doesn’t feel that
way for him. To make matters worse Barakel has to live with a beautiful demon
that he can’t get his mind off of, but after his time in hell he’d never let
himself touch someone so evil. Philotanus has made a living by leading men into
temptation, a path he began long ago to exact revenge for how he had been
treated. But having sought the protection of the angels in exchange for a
scroll means learning a different version of his own story. Could he be ready
for a new path or is he just setting himself up for another heartache? With a
baby on the way it is more important than ever for our favorite angels to find
and eradicate the local demon horde, but can they do it in time? Will this baby
be their salvation or annihilation?
Joel Crofoot was raised in northern New York state on a large family
sheep farm, then left home to join the United States Marine Corps at 18
years-old. After spending four years in Japan as a radio operator, Joel re-enlisted
into the bomb squad (explosive ordnance disposal) and was stationed out of
California. Two tours to Iraq later, Joel decided to leave the Marine Corps to
pursue higher education and recently graduated with a doctorate in psychology
in the summer of 2017.
Amelia’s past issues and personal time limits propel her into a relationship
that alters her normal life at Westbrook University. Connor, her new
potential boyfriend, triggers jealousy, rehashes old relationships,
sparks new ones, and ignites a rage in others that will devastate her
ordinary life. As she desperately tries to hold on to her pre-Connor
life, she struggles to balance the new-found attention while trying
to follow her heart. Something she realizes is complicated… very
complicated – because her heart has no idea where it’s going.
Connor may be the change Lia is looking for, but he is certainly not the
ending Hawk wants for his Queen. Hawk’s invested too much time in
planning his future to let some random guy walk away with his happily
ever after. He will do anything to protect her virtue, even if it
means protecting her from herself because Amelia belongs to him.
He’s chosen her…
He’s watched her…
He’s studied her…
He knows everything there is to learn about her…
And when the time is right she will reign his heart.
Amelia’s heart is torn between the new, the old and the familiar but when her
heart screams out what it wants, Amelia listens. It’s not always
easy since a conflicted heart wants different things on different
days, but she finds a way to work around her indecisiveness and focus
on what she needs- what she thinks she can’t live without.
The closer Amelia gets to figuring out her love life, the more Hawk
unravels. While he deals with loose ends and new threats, his
strategic plans start to fall into place. Pawns advance, the King’s
in the ideal position and the Rook hosts the Mad Lib Auction. What he
doesn’t expect is for his Queen to be in danger and for Knights to
steal hearts.
Amelia finally figures out exactly who her heart wants, and she is
determined to go for it. She is willing to give the knight who stole
her heart everything. She owns up to her mistakes and truly attempts
to change, but just because her mind is made up, doesn’t mean her
love is reciprocated. Will she choose the best-friend who learned her
by heart, or the soccer god who ignored her for the longest time? One
of them will win her heart, the other will break it… But neither of
them are safe from the guy who will stop at nothing to protect her.
Murder isn’t something Hawk shies away from. Actually, he prefers to use
it as a last recourse, but he’s unravelling. The closer Amelia gets
to achieving happiness, the more his control disintegrates. And when
one of his carefully laid plans turns on him, he loses it. Realizing
he’s the reason behind Amelia’s attack, plagues him with guilt.
In all his attempts to protect her, he was the one who put her in
danger- a failure he isn’t willing to have looming over him… But
what happens when his Queen fails him in ways she can never take
back?
New Adult, Romantic Suspense. Contains sexual content that may not be
appropriate for younger audiences.
Broken hearts come from damaged souls, and those aren’t easily healed.
I miss my old boring life—the one devoid of guys and crazy people who
try to kill me. Back then, there was no death, no stalkers, no boy
who stole my heart. Now that my heart is permanently broken, I crave
invisibility, and yet I desperately need closeness. With so many
missing people in my life, Aiden steps up. At first, I willingly give
him the pieces of my shattered soul, hoping he can put them back
together. Then I realize, it’s not that easy because half of it is
missing, and I need time to heal… away from Westbrook.
Hawk.
She gave away what was mine, so I’m going to take everything she has left.
Eliminating threats with the police breathing down my neck gets a bit complex,
but brilliant minds adapt and make resources out of obstacles. To
break Amelia, I use the secrets she’s been keeping to isolate her
from the people she holds close, and finally take down the remaining
Knight. With no one left to shield her, I take her and get my happily
ever after with my Queen… or so I thought. Let’s just say, I
don’t deal well with interference.

I am from a small country in Eastern Europe, I live with the coolest,
most patient, loving, supporting and understanding mom in the Universe and with
a fat, pampered, gay tomcat. When I am not writing or plotting the next book
with my lovely co-author from the other end of the world, E.L. Nelson, I like
to spend time in the company of my 14 year old nephew, who is a smart kid and a
great cook. I fell in love with the MM genre about three years ago, and, on
August 1st, last year, I made the decision to pursue a career as a writer of MM
books. Ever since, a whole hoard of characters invaded my mind, talking to me
non-stop, even when I sleep (or try to). E.L. is an introverted, single mother
and grandmother living with her furbaby Mortimer Mouse in the Rocket City USA.
It’s where her love of all things space history and science is satisfied with
the Space and Rocket Center and Marshall Space Flight Center. She hopes one day
to see man travel to the stars like in her favorite TV shows of Dr. Who,
Firefly and Star Trek. In the meantime she loves to dive into the world of MM
books, reading what ever she can get on her Kindle and interacting with her
tribe of people on Facebook.

They say you never forget your first love. I believe they’re right. I’ll always remember the sound of her laughter. The way she whispered my name when I touched her, and the taste of her on my lips. I’ll remember everything.
Including the look of pain as I walked away.

“Can’t sleep?”
I startled, closing the manila file on my lap quickly and sliding it into a magazine. It was dark in here. There was a chance she hadn’t noticed what I was looking at for the hundredth time since I’d gotten it earlier that afternoon.
I fucking hoped she hadn’t.
Because the file on my lap held Parker’s whole tragic, beautiful life inside it.
“I don’t sleep much.”
“Oh.”
She had an empty glass in her hand. I stood up and took it from her, carrying it to the fridge where I kept a pitcher of filtered water. That was new. I’d never given a shit about stuff like water quality before. A lot of things were new since Parker came into my life, like seeing a gorgeous girl I couldn’t touch half-dressed and half-asleep at all hours of the day and night.
Like being able to see her but not touch her. It was pretty much constant torture. Not that I wanted it to end.
Right now, I was doing my best to ignore that she was sleeping in the giant shirt I’d given her that first night. I was sure she had other things to sleep in. But she’d chosen that, of all things. And it was so fucking sexy on her it made my dick hurt.
Her legs were bare from mid-thigh down. Her gorgeous, creamy, golden thighs. Even worse, her perfect little toes were bare. Those feet of hers . . . they were the cutest damn things I’d seen in my life. I wanted to suck those toes until she screamed.
I was one thousand percent certain she was not wearing a bra.
I was one thousand percent not certain whether she was wearing panties. Part of me was praying fervently that she was. The other part of me was praying much louder than she wasn’t.
I carried the water back to her and took her hand, curling it around the glass. We stared at each other, the air between us filled with electricity. I knew this was dangerous. I was so close to saying to hell with it, pulling her into my arms and burying myself inside her for days.
Weeks.
Years.
“Parker . . .” I said, my voice raw with need. I still held her hand where it circled the cup. I rubbed my thumb over the silky skin of her inner wrist. She leaned toward me slightly, and I jerked away abruptly.
“Go back to bed,” I growled. My voice was rough and sounded harsher than I meant it to. She blinked and inhaled sharply. Then she turned tail and ran.
I stood there, feeling her absence. It was like all the air got sucked out of the room without her there. Like the warmth and beauty were gone. I was losing my damn mind. I wanted to chase her down the hallway and tackle her. Just take what I wanted, again and again, until I was satisfied.
If it was even possible to be satisfied. I doubted it. I wanted her too badly. It felt like it would never end.
Instead, I walked back to the couch and opened the file.
The first thing I saw was a picture of Parker as a little girl. I traced the picture with my fingertips, just as I’d done the first time I saw the picture. She was precious. Confidence and intelligence shone out of her stunning blue eyes. I felt an overwhelming sense of tenderness well up inside me.
I bet that’s what her kids will look like, I thought. Pure and perfect, just like her.

Art-school dropout Chandra would do anything to apologize for her role in her wife’s coma—including enroll in the first round of human trials for an internet-access brain implant.
At first, the secretive research compound is paradise, the perfect place to distract Chandra from her grief. But as she soon learns, the facility is more prison than resort, with its doctors, support staff, and her fellow patients all bent on hatching plots of their own, no matter how invested they might seem in helping her communicate with her wife.
Making matters worse, a dark wave of uncertainty crashes down on the compound, forcing Chandra to become an unlikely but pivotal player in conspiracies stretching from the highest levels of the North American Union government to the lowest dredges of its shadowy hacking collectives.
To save herself and her wife, Chandra and her newfound friends from the study will have to overcome the scheming of a ruthless tech magnate, the naïveté of an advancement-hungry administrative
assistant, and the relentless pursuits of an investigative journalist, all of whom are determined to outpace the others in their own quests to resurrect lost love, cover their tracks, and uncover the truth.

“You must find a different way to deal with your stress over this weekend. Smoking is not acceptable.” His voice was a warm rumble. “I think you will find that this spanking does nicely to calm you down. The pain of a spanking releases endorphins that bind to opiate receptors and reduce stress and anxiety. Of course, you are the scientist here, not me, so it seems like you would already know this stuff.”
“I’m not calm! Your scientific facts are nothing but mumbo jumbo,” I yelled as I struggled against his tight hold.
This, of course, did nothing to appease him or change his mind about a spanking providing stress relief. Instead, he began to spank harder and with renewed vigor. I could feel my ass begin to sting, even though I had three layers of protection, with my dress, stockings, and panties.
We were in a secluded rest stop off the highway, and I could hear the cars whizzing by. The ideas of getting caught made my heart race, and my panties dampen.
“Rob! Stop! Someone is going to pull in here any minute, and they will call the cops on you for assault.”
He didn’t stop, or even slow down, but I could hear the smirk in his voice when he responded. “I’m a robot. If they arrest me, it’s going to be a far bigger problem for you than it will be for me, I assure you.”
Damn. He had a point. It was like with every smack of his hand, all the blood rushed to my head, and every lick of sense I had went out the window by way of my dripping pussy.
“Rob, please stop. It hurts, and I get it and I won’t smoke again, I promise. And we’re going to be late, and I don’t want anyone to see me out here getting spanked, and my hair is going to be messed up, and my makeup will be ruined, and it’s freaking cold out here!” I was at this point, throwing out everything I could think of in the hopes that something would work.
It didn’t.
“Stop with the excuses, little girl. We are going to get one thing straight and we are going to get it straight right now. If you want this to end, you will listen up, and listen good.”
