1. “I understand
that, Mista Hamilton but you still haven’t told me what you are
proposing…” He sat back and nodded his agreement. “What I am
proposing, Candice is for you to allow me to reform you.” His eyes met
hers, silently, with an authoritative presence that was all their own.
She wanted to burst out laughing again but when she looked into his
eyes, she could see he wasn’t bluffing. “And how do you intend to do
that?” she questioned, eyes wide with disbelief. “First, I would like
to make it very clear that our relationship would be strictly platonic. I
am not out to hit on you or try to take advantage of you. I will view
you as an employer views their employee. You likewise will refer to me
as Sir. You would reside in my home and have rules which you would be
expected to follow and routines which you would be expected to keep.
Adherence to your rules and responsibilities would earn you rewards and
privileges and rule breaking would earn you punishments.” “Um,” she
croaked, her mouth dry from falling open. “What do you mean by
punishments?” “I mean that you will be punished for failure to adhere to
my authority in any way that I see fit. The methods I use could be as
simple as a reprimand or
they could be as complex and humbling as
a thorough bare bottom spanking, given over my knee. Do you catch my
drift?” Blushing – she could actually feel herself blushing! She
couldn’t remember the last time she had done so. No one had that effect
on her, ever. And while she sat there trying to contain her
embarrassment, and arousal, he sat across from her cool as a cucumber,
not so much as breaking a sweat.
2. “And what did I say
would happen if you didn’t obey me,” he asked calmly. She tried to
appear nonchalant, unaffected, unconcerned, but the truth was she felt
none of those things. “I’d get a spanking,” she stated quietly. “What
was that?” he asked. She tried to swallow her fear. “I’d get a
spanking,” she repeated more loudly. He nodded his agreement and slowly
raised his left hand to unbutton his right shirt cuff. Her breathing
seemed to heighten as she kept her eyes grounded, sensing his every
move. When he finished folding his right cuff over, he repeated the
action on his left, releasing the buttons and carefully folding the cuff
over to just below his elbow. Once he was finished, he turned to her.
“Right then, I believe a consequence is in order,” he stated. “Candice,
stand up and take your pants down.” Her eyes shot up in disbelief.
Although he had said he would do this very thing she couldn’t wrap her
brain around the reality of it here in the moment. “Like hell I will,”
she stated, jumping to her feet. Ralph sat back stoically, his height
nearly reaching hers even from his sitting position.
agreed, Candice. You agreed. If you’re going to trust the process you
will have to accept my conditions. My rules and the consequences for
breaking them are really quite simple to understand. They may not always
be easy to follow, but they are simple, doable, achievable measures. If
you are going to benefit from this process, you are going to have to
3. “Candice,” he called, walking over to the
other side of the bed. Sure enough, her eyes were red-rimmed. He knelt
down beside her and took her hand. “You just broke a whole slew of
rules down there.” “I don’t care,” she yelled through her tears. “Spank
me again if you have to. I meant everything I said and I’m not sorry for
sayin’ it.” He held up a hand to calm her. “I’m not going to punish
you for it, Candi. Truth is, you were right about some things. I guess
I’ve been afraid to get close to people after what happened because I
don’t want to get hurt again. When all that happened, I almost lost
myself and I had two choices: I could have become a victim and felt
sorry for myself or I could fight for my life and conquer it. I chose to
work hard and not let what happened beat me. I didn’t let it hold me
back or rob me of my life. That’s what I want for you, Candi. I want you
to become the kind of person that will fight and never say die, fight
for what’s important and not quit.” Candi’s eyes met his. It wasn’t lost
on her that he’d finally begun to address her differently. “I want
that too, Ralph, but you can’t do you and just say fuck everyone else.
You gotta still let people in sometimes. Everyone needs someone to love
4. “I don’t want you to let me…” Candi
interjected, her eyes pleading in his direction. Fear was etched across
her face, a look he’d never seen her wear before. He’d seen her nervous
before, yes. She was nervous when he gave her a spanking, but this was
not that. Every feature of her face was drawn out and taut as if her
life itself depended on his staying. “Please don’t go, Ralph.” She
reached out for him afraid this would be the last time, afraid he’d make
her leave and not return. “I’ll take the spanking, please. I want to do
better than this. Teach me, Ralph, teach me to do right.”
have a strong belief that when something of value is broken- a person, a
keepsake, or a relationship- you don’t throw it away, you fix it!
Whether the thing in need of repair is a character trait, an attitude,
an heirloom, or a marriage- you do whatever is necessary to repair it if

My focus is relationships. My passion is love.
Much of my writing embraces themes such as renewed relationships, trust
and forgiveness, repentance and correction, and character refining. I
was given the advice once, “Don’t be afraid to be bold,” and that is how
I try to approach my writing.
I began writing at a very early
age. I enjoyed putting stories together. In fact, I once wrote on
cardboard after I had run out of paper. As a teenager, I wrote short
stories, poetry, and began to dabble in novella writing. As a mother of
many little’s, my writing has been put away for a time and I am just now
beginning to dust it off and put pen to paper again.
are about relationships and commitment. They encompass themes such as
strong men who lead their women, and headstrong women who learn to trust
their man. Many times, this compromise takes place over a red bottom!
I hope that you will join me on my journey into author-hood and that you enjoy my books! Thank you for your support!
A little more than two years before the events of Bounty, Jill Andersen
makes a life-altering decision. But this decision comes with
consequences she didn’t foresee, and her first night as the
vigilante Bounty winds up being something for which she was wholly
A crisis of faith eventually gives way to certainty: both in terms of
discovering who killed a young man named Johnny Ruiz and in terms of
coping with the latest change in her own life.
Along the way, Jill defies death and discovers just how deep the city’s
corruption runs. But will she survive the experience long enough to
decide if a life of vigilantism is for her?
Jill Andersen is one of Baltimore’s best and brightest detectives, but she
harbors a dark secret — a secret that threatens to come out when the
body of Dr. Trent Roberts is pulled out of the Chesapeake Bay. Dr.
Roberts’ connection to Jill reveals a past that involves a tour in
Iraq, a secretive cybernetic experiment, and a conspiracy that
involves a native son.
Can Jill solve the case while still keeping her secret? Will her partners
at the Seventh Precinct find out what she’s so desperate to hide?
What was Dr. Roberts looking into that led to his murder? And perhaps
the biggest question of all…
For as long as Jill Andersen could remember, her father was a hero.
But heroes don’t commit murder, do they? The state of Maryland said
Paul Andersen did just that, three times over, and was set to execute
him for it. But Jill and the rest of her colleagues at the Baltimore
Police Department come across the murder of a law student that leaves
her hopeful that she can clear her father’s name.
While Jill and her colleagues work against the clock to clear her father’s
name, new players emerge, hinting to a deeper, darker conspiracy than
what was previously known. An enigmatic faction known as The Order
reveals itself, and the mystery surrounding Paul’s alleged
duplicity leaves more questions than answers.
Along the way, Jill must not only face the possibility that her father was
not who she thought he was, but she must also face the prospect of
her secret being revealed. The stakes are higher than ever in Blood
Ties, the intense follow-up to J.D. Cunegan’s debut mystery Bounty.
Can Jill save her father before it’s too late? Will she even want to?
For Jill Andersen, being part of the Baltimore Police Department has
always been both a tremendous honor and a serious responsibility. Her
father, before his fall from grace, had instilled in her a great
respect for police and the work they do day-to-day. But when a
teenage boy winds up dead on the outskirts of downtown Baltimore,
Jill finds herself once again faced with those who would abuse their
badges to fulfill personal agendas and uphold biases.
Jill still has a job to do, but she soon finds that not everyone is in her
corner. For the first time in almost four years working Homicide,
Jill finds herself at odds with people who claim to be on her side.
From other cops to suits downtown all the way to the Mayor’s
office, it becomes increasingly clear that Jill will need to rely on
more than just her badge if she’s to solve this case.
But even if she finds justice, what’s the price?
Behind the Badge, the gripping, hard-hitting third novel in the Jill
Andersen series (Bounty, Blood Ties), gives readers another taste of
author J.D. Cunegan’s comic book-inspired brand of fast-paced
prose, with chapters that fly by and plot twists that will leave
readers constantly guessing and waiting for more.
It’s hard to be a hero when everyone’s out to get you.
Once upon a time, Jill Andersen considered herself a hero. Not just
because of the badge handed to her by the city of Baltimore and the
pledge she once made to protect and serve. Her secret life, as the
vigilante Bounty, had allowed Jill to protect her native Baltimore in
ways her day job never could.
But all that has gone to hell now. One case pushed Jill past her limits,
to the point where she made choices she can’t take back. As a
result, the entire city is on the lookout for her. Allies can no
longer be counted on. People who were once in her corner might very
well be trying to bring her down… to say nothing of those she has
crossed along the way.
But that is the least of Jill’s problems. A shadowy figure emerges
among the chaos, and his link to Jill’s past has the potential to
be her ultimate undoing. Jill thought every link to Project Fusion
has been settled once she solved Dr. Trent Roberts’ murder almost
one year ago, but if she’s not careful, her past might just kill her.
Behind the Mask, the gripping, hard-hitting fourth novel in the Jill
Andersen mystery series (Bounty, Blood Ties, Behind the Badge), gives
readers yet another taste of author J.D. Cunegan’s comic
book-inspired brand of fast-paced prose, with chapters that fly by
and plot twists that will leave readers guessing and waiting for more.
J.D. Cunegan is known for his unique writing style, a mixture of
mystery and superhero epic that introduces the reader to his comic
book-inspired storytelling and fast-paced prose. A 2006 graduate of
Old Dominion University, Cunegan has an extensive background in
journalism, a lengthy career in media relations, and a lifelong love
for writing. Cunegan lives in Hampton, Virginia, and next to books,
his big passion in life in auto racing. When not hunched in front of
a keyboard or with his nose stuck in a book, Cunegan can probably be
found at a race track or watching a race on TV.
