Author: A.M. Wilson
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: April 9, 2020
Alex ‘Sin’ Sinclair has spent the past two years being haunted by the ghost of his missing–presumably dead–sister. However, chasing monsters has its limits, and he often finds himself at the bottom of a bottle to cope with the pain. But when a woman is left for dead on his doorstep, he has a choice to make. Can he put his sister to rest and focus on saving someone who’s still living?
She’s drawn her knees up onto the seat, and her head is resting against them. The big black helmet still covers her face. It pisses me off that she’s always hidden. Hidden behind too-big clothing, behind closed doors, and behind Elias. I reach over and pull it off her head.
“What’s wrong?”
She looks me directly in the eyes, letting the tears fall.
“I forgot what it was like to feel alive.”
“Are you warm? You’ve got a heartbeat?” Shelby nods. “Then you’re alive.”
“But I’ve been cold and numb for so long.”
“You and me both.”
My jaw clenches, and I look away in shame. I didn’t mean for the words to slip out. There’s something about this woman that tears my guard down without me even realizing it. Her presence is gasoline, and her words are the match. She opens her mouth, and all my barriers go up in smoke.
