He’s with me, Yaya. This is…my friend Evan.” As soon as his name left her lips, his face broke into the most beautiful smile.
“I get to stay if I’m with her, right?”
Yaya smiled at Sophia and waggled her eyebrows. “You have been holding out on me.”
Sophia dipped her chin and scowled at her grandmother. “Evan drove me here because I was so worried about you, I couldn’t see straight. Do you see what you do to me? Can’t you just do what you’re told this one time?”
“I am fit as a fiddle. I want to go home. I also want to get to know your friend better. Evan, darling, thank you so much for watching out for my Sophia. She is very special.”
“That she is,” Evan replied.
“How did you two meet?”
Sophia did not need her grandmother thinking this was a potential suitor. She was about to explain he was her client when he answered.
