BLURB
The first time I met her, she was running away from her own wedding.
The second time I met her, she tried to get me fired from my job.
The third time? I had to haul her drunk self off the bar before she completed her amateur—and hot as hell—striptease.
She’s
messy, chaos in human form, and not at all who she claims to be.
Everything I’ve worked so hard for depends on her not screwing things up
for me. I should run, not walk, away from her, but all I want to do is
strip her layers until I get to the…heart—yeah, that’s what I was going
to say—of who she really is.
I may be smart, but love might be the most clever of us all.

EXCERPT
“Listen.
I’ve gone through some shit today and I’m really trying to turn my life
around. Not putting that stolen board back would really put a damper on
this whole turning-over-a-new-leaf thing I’ve got going on here.
Understand?”
“No.”
“No?”
She folded her arms across her chest finally, but all it did was push
up her breasts and make it even harder—in so, so many ways—for me to
focus.
“No.”
She
exploded, arms and legs moving as she paced my boat in nothing but her
skimpy, see-through underwear. “Listen! I didn’t ask you to save me. I
didn’t need saving. I’ve been swimming this area of the ocean since I
was a baby. You’re the asshole who put me on this boat—without my
permission, by the way. Hell, the police might even view this as
kidnapping!”
The woman was gorgeous dripping
wet or yelling at the sun from her board, but she was magnificent all
worked up and ranting. I wanted to wrap my hand around her throat, push
her against the helm and pull the aching erection from this confining
wetsuit and shut her up with one violent thrust. Which meant I was just a
few seconds away from losing control with a perfect stranger. I only
slept with willing women, not sea goddesses who had attitude problems.
“Okay,
let’s find your board and I’ll drop you off at the harbor. I have
things to do.” I clapped my hands and headed to the helm to pull up
anchor.
“What? That’s it? It’s a yes all of a sudden?” The woman came running after me.
I
hit a button and the anchor began to retract. I also cranked over the
engine and prepared to back out of the cove. “Yep. Got shit to do.”
“Uh.
Okay…” She didn’t sound convinced, but I couldn’t stick around long
enough to care. I had a job to do and ten o’clock would be here before I
knew it.
“Grab that jacket so you don’t freeze
to death.” I pointed to my huge black jacket, the one I’d planned to
wear once I was done here tonight, but would now be wet from Sea
Goddess. That’s how she’d forever stay in my brain from now on. A
strange creature with the body of a siren.
The
woman frowned at me before turning to grab it. I eased the boat
backward, enjoying when she stumbled because of the movement and had to
catch herself, tossing a narrow-eyed look over her shoulder. I bit back a
smile and kept moving. I didn’t have time for this woman, no matter how
good she looked in that invisible lingerie. I had an octopus to catch, a
job to save, and a life to live to prove to my father that I too could
be famous. Just for my brain, not my acting skills.
