Fumbled by Lizzi Stone

K. Webster
(A Chesapeake Commanders Novel, #1)
Publication date: January 11th 2022
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance, Sports

Hawk Florence has always been the football star, the guy that can make any girl fall in love with him- and then break their heart. And that’s exactly what he did to me way back in high school. Now I’ve been assigned to do a puff piece on him for a national sports journal, and I’m more than ready to get my revenge.

The plan is simple. First, sit him down and flatter the shit out of him. Laugh at his crappy jokes. Touch his arm, let it linger. When he asks me out, I’ll flutter my eyelashes and shyly accept. Then, make him fall in love. And devour him. I’m ready. I won’t fail. But there’s one thing that I didn’t plan for: he doesn’t ask me out. Instead, he calls me out on my BS. He’s not wrong, but that’s just one of the ways that my plan has already gone terribly wrong before it even begins.

When he does finally ask me out, it isn’t much of a date. Instead, it’s a few agonizing hours of going back and forth about why we hate each other. But there is one interesting thing that came out of our brief time together: the bet that Hawk makes with me- that he will make me fall in love in 3 weeks, in love for real. If he fails, he’ll give me every exclusive for the season. Of course, I accept. Why wouldn’t I? This will help my career, and it’s not like he has a prayer anyway. This jerk broke my heart in high school, and there’s no way that I will fall for the same trick twice. Or will I?

All bets are off when it comes to the heart. Fumbled is a standalone sports romcom that will make you wonder what to do when love- and football- gives you a second chance….

“How do I look?” I smiled brilliantly, and batted my eyelashes.

“Like you’re ready to knock off his socks and shoes and leave him to walk home on his bare-ass feet,” Grace replied, as only a best friend can.

“I was going for ‘crawling home on hands and knees, ’but it will do,” I joked. Okay, half joked. I wanted him to look at me. Really look at me, like he hadn’t in high school. Maybe it was petty. I was doing well for myself. I worked at National Daily magazine’s headquarters here in Norfolk. I owned the part of my apartment the bank didn’t own, which was approximately a fingertip of space in the bathroom. Maybe the whole toilet. I didn’t need to impress any guy.

Any but this one.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to come with you?” Grace picked up the lipstick tube and slipped it into my bag.

“In case I get tongue-tied?” I asked. “What’s the worst that could happen?” All right, I might march in and declare myself to be the proud owner of a toilet. I’m pretty sure even I wouldn’t be that awkward.

Devil’s Fury MC #11

MC Romance/Contemporary

Date Published: January 21, 2022

Publisher: Changeling Press, LLC

Minnie — The Reckless Kings told me it was pointless to pine after Satyr. I kept offering myself to him, hoping he’d see me as something more. I was a fool. All that man will ever see when he looks at me is a club girl. I’ll always be trash in his eyes. So when the President offers me a chance at a new life, I grab on with both hands. It might mean living with yet another club — the Devil’s Fury — but once I meet Doolittle, my entire world turns upside down. I’d thought myself in love with Satyr, but I was so very wrong. Doesn’t matter. Same situation, different man. I might be starting my life over, but Doolittle knows what I am, what I’ve been… and he’ll never want someone like me as his old lady.

Doolittle — Beast asked a favor and I gladly agreed. I have no problem with a woman who wants a fresh start. Before I even met Minnie, I’d offered to let her work at my clinic. I don’t know what I expected. But the stunning woman who shows up leaves me tripping over myself. I’ve never met anyone like her before, and the instant connection between us is startling. Just one problem. Well, three. The first is Meredith. The girl won’t take no for an answer and is determined I’ll be hers. The second is that Minnie feels unworthy of being mine. I’ll just have to prove her wrong. The third I never saw coming, and it just might change everything.

WARNING: Doolittle is part of the Devil’s Fury MC romance series and contains bad language, violence, and adult situations. You’ll also find entirely too many adorable animals, no cheating, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

The gates to the Reckless Kings compound opened as I drove up. I stopped just inside the gate and leaned out to speak with the newest Prospect, Bronsen. “Can you tell me how to get the guest house? I’m supposed to meet with Doolittle.”

Bronsen hunkered down and braced his arms on the door of my small SUV. “Follow the road to the right. You can see Beast’s big ass house from here. Go past it and look for a gray Chevy Silverado. That’s what Doolittle drove here.”

He backed away and I followed his directions, finding the house easily enough. I parked next to the truck and checked my reflection in the mirror, making sure I didn’t have flyaway strands of hair sticking up every which way. Snapping the visor shut, I took a breath to steady my nerves, and got out.

My door had barely shut when two paws landed in the middle of my chest, and I was knocked off my feet. My ass met the concrete driveway and I winced, knowing it would bruise. The fluffy giant grinned a doggy smile at me. “Well, hello to you too. If that’s how you greet everyone, you may need obedience training.”

Sorry about Goliath. He thinks he’s the size of a loaf of bread,” a deep voice said from nearby.

I craned my neck back and saw Doolittle standing on the porch. Even though I hadn’t met him before, he definitely wasn’t one of the Reckless Kings. Far as I knew, only one Devil’s Fury member had come to visit. “That’s a perfect name for him.”

I gave the giant floof a shove so I could stand up. Dusting off my pants, I approached the house, trying to get a better glimpse of my possible boss. I went up the steps and nearly tripped over my feet when my gaze met his. Holy hell! Beast wants me to work with this guy?

I stared, and then did the most embarrassing thing ever. I blurted out the first thing that popped into my head. “You’re gorgeous.”

My cheeks burned and my eyes widened. I could feel my heart racing and I wondered if it was too late to get back in the car and pretend this never happened. Doolittle chuckled and shoved his hands into his jean pockets.

I’m always happy to accept compliments from beautiful women.”

My face like I’d spiked a fever of a million degrees. He thought I was beautiful? Sure, men had told me that plenty of times. Usually right before they tried getting in my pants. Doolittle only winked then tipped his head toward the front door.

Why don’t we go in and discuss the job? I can go over the day-to-day details of what you’ll be doing, what it pays, and all that fun stuff. Then if you haven’t eaten dinner yet, maybe you can stick around and share some pizza with me. Although, I should warn you I placed the order right before you got here, so if supreme isn’t to your liking, you’re out of luck.”

Something About You by K.B. Barrett

Something About You by K.B. Barrett is releasing on January 21st, but today, we are revealing an EXCERPT from the book! Check it out below.

They reach up and consume all that you love.

Danny has watched his brothers find happiness and peace with their women. They have the kind of love a person spends their life searching for, the kind Danny believes he will never have. But Fate has other ideas, and Jill Is strong enough to battle the past with him.

Jill has her own demons, though, ones set on destroying the little oasis of peace she has fought so hard for. The problem is, there are some things not even the Mancini Family will be able to help her with.

When the monsters of their pasts claw up out of hell, Danny and Jill must fight their way through love to not only save each other, but the whole family.

The problem is, who are the demons after?

“Sorry that took so long!” Christine said cheerfully, and all the men’s eyes turned to them.

Danny’s mouth parted in shock as his body stiffened. His hands clenching where they were wrapped around the back of a chair.

“You look nice, Jill,” Rick said politely, still slightly frowning. He wasn’t happy about her going either.

“Thank you,” she said politely, hoping that she could get out of here sooner rather than later. Just being around Danny was almost more than she could take.

“Where’s Jamie?” Danny asked, his voice sounding deeper, his eyes tight.

“He’s with a sitter,” she responded, not meeting his eyes, fidgeting with some imaginary item in her purse.

“Where are you girls going?” Jill glanced out of the corner of her eye, watching as Danny stood, crossing his arms across his chest, his body still.

Too still.

They aren’t going anywhere. Jill has a date,” Rick butted in before she could say something.

“What the fuck!” Danny exploded, and she jerked.

Even Christine went still.

“You are not going on a date!”

“Umm… Danny, what…” She tried to get herself to talk, to say something, anything, but in all her time knowing the Mancini family, Danny had never shouted around her like that.

“No. Not just no, but fuck no!” he snarled and her back went up.

“Excuse me?” she whispered.

Who the heck did he think she was? A dog?

“No,” he said again and stomped toward her, coming right up till she was almost leaning back to get away from him.

“Who the fuck is he?” She was too stunned to say anything, so she could only stand there and stare at him.

Who was this man?

Because this was not Danny?

“It’s the bartender. The one from the bar we were at last week,” Christine said slowly.

“Connor? Oh, hell no!” Danny snarled again as Rick stepped forward, looking like he was going to say something, but Danny held his hand out, stopping Rick in his tracks.

“Stay the fuck out of it,” he muttered to Rick, his dark glittering eyes never leaving hers. “He’s a manwhore, Jill, really? That’s what you want?” Danny sneered, and it snapped her out of her daze.

“What, like you? I don’t care how many women he’s slept with. Maybe for one night I’m not looking for long term. At least he was ballsy enough to ask me out!” Danny’s eyes narrowed, his body tightening even more, and she braced for his outburst. She had never spoken to him like this before.

“Danny!” Rick snapped, and Danny’s head swung to him.

“Chill, man.”

“Are you really okay with this?” Danny shouted and Rick paused, his eyes roving over Danny’s twisted face.

Then, slowly, he smiled. “You know, I wasn’t. But now, I am.”

“Fuck this,” Danny muttered…

Meet Willow

I started writing after having my little girl, Evie, December of 2015. All during my pregnancy with her I read. I only wanted to read romance novels and I read everything I could get my hands on. I would read a book a day — sometimes two. In January I was staying up late with her and just thinking of all these stories. They came to me constantly. I finally sat down and just started writing. I always wanted to do it so I figured, why not?

I never thought I would reach this point of success to be honest. It’s insane to me that I have connected with so many readers.

And I love each and every one of them for all of their support. I’ll be honest, some days are HARD. I have my littles during the day and I write at night. Some days are just simply exhausting and then I hear from a reader and it motivates me to push through and keep writing. I couldn’t be more grateful for this wonderful career.

I’m a prisoner in a prestigious world.

A perfect princess locked in a tower.

My father will never let me go.

Not that I could leave. I would never abandon my little sister. Hope comes in the form of a devilishly handsome man with dark eyes and darker secrets.

With each encounter, I’m lured deeper into the labyrinth. The danger lurking beneath his surface calls to me, even as it warns me away.

Except there’s a new side of him every time we meet. A different danger each time we touch. It’s as if three different men want to devour me.

He’s not just one villain. He’s three.

“You know,” Ford says, smirking as he sidles up beside me in the hallway after our second class of the day, “I could give you a ride.”

“You’re a perv.”

He laughs, the sound warming parts of me I’d never known existed. “Technically, you’re the perv. I meant an actual ride. In my car. Not on my cock.”

The mention of Ford’s cock has a flood of heat coursing through me. I elbow him hard in his side and storm ahead of him. Based on his stupid laughter, I’d say he’s enjoying tormenting me.

You enjoy it too…

I don’t let myself dwell on that thought for too long.

A heavy, muscled arm wraps around my shoulders as Ford catches up. He’s so touchy-feely. I hate that I barely know the guy and my body responds as though he’s familiar to me.

I roll my eyes but don’t shake him off. For a second, I can pretend I’m a normal college-aged woman with a good-looking guy who’s interested in her. There aren’t controlling, abusive fathers or little sisters who need looking after. There isn’t pressure or stress or drama.

Several people glance at us as we walk by. I’m not sure what’s drawing their attention. My money’s on the sexy beast of a man who seems to be staking a claim on me. A flutter in my chest indicates just how much I like that idea.

Which is completely dumb.

I can allow myself a friend, but nothing more. Not when there’s so much at stake. Blatantly going against Dad’s expressed wishes at having me date someone in his power circle would be the worst possible thing I could do. Not only could he backtrack and keep me from attending college, he might somehow punish Della with his anger.

I’m feeling quite somber and dismayed that it takes me a second to realize we’ve stopped and Ford is speaking to me.

“This is the part where you’re supposed to be impressed,” he grumbles, waving his hand toward a sleek vehicle. “Seriously. We can’t be friends if you won’t even acknowledge my baby.”

He’s pouting.

Over a dumb car.

For some reason, this amuses me. It is, in fact, a gorgeous car, but the fact I haven’t gushed over its beauty and he’s pouting about it, has a bubble of laughter escaping. One attempt at smothering my giggling leads to an unladylike snort, which has me erupting with more laughter.

Ford releases me, muttering under his breath, and hits the fob. I bite on my bottom lip to contain my cackling. He flings open the door and gestures in overemphasis as if to prove the inside is just as pretty. It’s the look of pure exasperation on his face that has me losing it again.

“You’re a real bitch, Laundry,” he grits out, though there’s no real venom in his tone. “No one’s ever laughed at my car before.”

“You said I was different and you were right. I bet you’re rethinking making me your friend.” I arch a brow at him now that the giggling has faded. “See you around, Chevy.”

His maple syrup eyes slowly peruse down my body, lazily drinking up every detail of me. I try not to squirm but when someone like Ford Mann is practically devouring you, it’s hard not to.

“Let me take you home,” he urges, his voice dropping several octaves and managing to reverberate through me. “I’ll go slow.”

The fire in his eyes says he’s talking about more than just a ride in his car. He’s talking about the ride of my life. All I’d have to do is give in.

Gravel crunches behind me and a sleek, black Mercedes SUV pulls up. I recognize Trey, one of Dad’s drivers, sitting behind the wheel. Time to go.

“My ride’s here.” I motion toward the Mercedes. “Maybe some other time.”

Like never.

Ford peels his stare from me to give Trey a once-over. When his eyes find their way back to mine, they’re harder than before and glint with something almost calculating. The warmth between us is snuffed out and a chill works its way down my spine.

“Goodbye, Ford.”

“See you soon.” He winks at me but the action is almost taunting. “That’s a promise.”

Captain Ales has returned to the galaxy, forever changed as the powers have prepared for war. He’ll accept help from anyone if it leads to the mysterious Turo from whose cage Ales must free himself if he ever wants to return to the Red Moon. Meanwhile Daeron has been offered the deal of a lifetime by the ruler of the Seven Suns. Marry Osvai, the Kyleri prince, and become heir to the richest star-state in the galaxy while raising an army to restore the prince to his rightful place as Emperor of the Million Suns. But Viscamon’s grip on Jiwani has only tightened as the nobles imprisoned in the Royal Baths still refuse to bow to the immortal’s cataclysmic theology of destroying the Galactic Balance. It seems the only way for Imperial Guard Captain Antari to avoid a massacre is outright treachery. While dynasties play galactic politics, the Outer Verge is being torn apart. From a prison cell, Mahnoor watches The Rip destroying Targuline, until the Kyleri rebels offer him the chance to save himself by flying into the heart of danger. He might even become Jansen’s most unlikely hero. Heroes and villains run riot around the galaxy, unleashing destructive forces and sliding the great powers toward a war from which no one will be safe.

Returning Heroes Harry F. Rey © 2022 All Rights Reserved The sleek, spacious travel pod sliced through the swirling burnt-orange clouds of Bazman. Daeron edged forward on the puffed, pillowy chair that consistently failed to relax him. He tugged at the high collar of his pure-white Dalvian silk jacket—yet another gift from President Ezreal. He stared out the window at the spindly towers stretching in and out of the clouds above and below. The teeming city-world of Bazman, capital of the Confederation of the Seven Suns, supposedly the richest star-state in the Shakti Democria, was to Daeron no better than any of the thousands of worlds he’d been on. The rich lived above, flying around in these perfumed and carpeted pods, while the poor shuffled in and out of a noxious atmosphere far below. Daeron could go anywhere he wanted on Bazman; no store, restaurant, menagerie, or cultural complex was too exclusive for President Ezreal’s new favorite son. Six weeks ago, they’d barely escaped the Kyleri fleet which had blown up Aldegar’s megacollider. Daeron and the remaining crew of the Daring Huntress chased Turo and the double-crossing Ezi into the Shakti Nebula, only to end up invited to land here by Ezreal’s security forces. On Bazman, where he could go anywhere at all, just not leave. “What’s wrong now, Daeron?” Osvai said, relaxing in his similarly styled—but all black—Dalvian silk suit. The missing heir to the Kyleri Empire sipped on a Lactarian malt from a crystal glass while grinning at an entertainment package broadcast on the holoscreen in front of his seat. Lest His Imperial Majesty get bored in the half hour it takes to get from Bazman’s presidential palace to the restaurant opening. Daeron glanced over at the prince who was now biting his lip to keep from laughing at the holovid. Daeron watched for a moment. He’d never seen anything so stupid. “What’s so funny about people walking into things? It’s cruel.” Osvai wasn’t listening. He gasped in laughter as some poor unsuspecting holo-person had a pile of trash dumped on their head. Daeron flung himself against the seat, but it only absorbed the shock and began to massage his lower back. Daeron could huff all he wanted, but Osvai had stopped caring about what bothered Daeron. He stroked his thick black beard, forgetting it was still glistening in the fancy oils Osvai made him use. Daeron wiped his greasy hand on the plush arm of the chair and returned to staring out the window at the traffic lanes of pods gliding through the clouds and between the towers—with no end and no beginning. “Are Xenia and the rest of the crew coming tonight?” Daeron asked, breathing slowly through his nose, trying to let the fury of being stuck in a gilded prison subside. It wasn’t going anywhere. Just like him. “They left.” Daeron spun on the chair to face Osvai. “They…left?” “Yeah. Didn’t I tell you?” Osvai said, not looking up from the holovid. Daeron yanked at the silk collar constricting his neck, and it let out a satisfying rip. “No…you didn’t tell me. That was…my crew. My ship.” Daeron was doing everything in his power to stay calm, but he knew his string was about to snap. Maybe if Osvai understood that, they wouldn’t spend half their nights screaming at each other in their apartment in the presidential palace. “I guess they went to meet your mom.” Osvai drained his glass, then stretched and placed it inside an alcove grooved into the wall where a nozzle filled it back up. “Isn’t it her crew again now she’s back?” Daeron fell into a sulking silence at the mention of his mom. Maybe Osvai knew him better than he thought. Because the moment Captain Sanya was raised, Daeron shut down. It had been weeks since she and that Tevian girlfriend of hers, Sallah, had crossed back through the horizon point with her brat, Ales. Had they come to see him? No. Daeron had only learned their mission had been successful from the newscasts. The returning hero Captain Ales, who apparently had an Ingvarian fleet at his disposal now, as well as the entire Outer Verge, had been spotted at the Mayo resort in the Central Star States. After their collective trauma, Captain Sanya, Sallah, and Ales had decided to play happy families and treat themselves to a little vacation at one of the most expensive systems in the galaxy. It hurt Daeron hard. He’d still not seen her. Not even a holovid call. He stretched out his hand and opened his palm-tech to flick through the only messages his mom had sent since she’d returned. The megacollider is gone then? Yeah, as if a rebel Kyleri fleet blowing up an ancient sphere surrounding an entire sun had been his fault. Then, loving, motherly message number two. Why is Osvai not back on Jiwani? And you lost Turo? Can’t you do anything right? Good point. Why was Osvai not back on Jiwani? “Don’t you care at all?” Daeron snapped, spitting his frustrations at Osvai. The prince finally looked up from the holovid, staring back with those thin eyes and sunset skin that Daeron couldn’t deny filled him with lust. Even if he was perpetually pissed off at him. “Care about what, Daeron?” “Your fucking empire.” Daeron stood up, kicking the chair hard so it spun like a ship out of control. Osvai drained his glass again and, with an overly audible sigh, came over to Daeron and slid his small arms as far around Daeron as they could go. But Daeron wriggled out of his half hug and slunk to the back of the pod, watching the dusty clouds spinning like a vortex as they flew. “What do you want me to do, Daeron? Fight Viscamon for my throne with what army, exactly?” “My mom said to take you home.” “Oh, your mom said. It’s always the same story with you, Daeron. Your mom says you have to stay on Jiwani with a father you never knew, and you stayed. Your mom says look after me until I’m back on Jiwani, and you blame me for staying in the one place in the galaxy no one’s trying to kill me!” Here we go. Another screaming match. “Can we not do this now?” Daeron said, arms folded and his back to Osvai. “The president invited us to this restaurant opening, and since he’s the one keeping you safe and letting us stay for free, we don’t need you getting drunk and making a scene.” “Excuse me?” “Sorry, more drunk.” Osvai sucked in a short breath. If they’d learned one thing about each other since escaping Jiwani together on the night of Osvai’s father, Emperor Kantori’s, assassination, it was how to push each other’s buttons. “When was the last time you saw Xenia?” Osvai asked, lathered in bitterness. “Or Tal, or Bindi? Or even Voros? When was it? Kaj’s memorial service?” “Shut up, Osvai.” “You haven’t asked about them in weeks. So don’t pretend you didn’t know they’d leave. You didn’t want to know.” “I said shut up!” “You can say I’m afraid all you want. And yes, I am afraid of going back to Jiwani when Viscamon is imprisoning nobles until he’s blackmailed enough to crown himself emperor. That’s a normal thing to be scared of. But you—” “Osvai, I’m fucking warning you.” Daeron spun around to see him sauntering around the pod with a look of victory splashed across his face. “You might look like a big scary man, Daeron, but you’re just a little boy. Afraid of what his mommy will say.” Daeron had already exploded. Fury prickled his body; sweat soaked the suit. He’d throw Osvai out of this pod if he could. His fists clamped together, ready to test just how much of a punch this glass could take. “You have arrived at your destination,” the pod’s soft female voice said with a ding. “Have a pleasant evening.”

Author: Ali Lucia Sky

This World is just one of thousands of Worlds the Makers have created. The Universe and Makers are playing with those who live on it.

No one who had met Michaela Beauchamp could come away from it unscathed. She was a shrew–argumentative, crass, and the focus of all my wet dreams. I loved to hate her. We were at war and I was determined to win. I didn’t want her to just go away, I wanted to watch her fine ass as she went in that direction.

Whoever thought Gabriel Langdon was more than a pretty face never met the douchecanoe.
He had very few redeeming qualities. He was dumb, frustrating, and constantly featuring in all my sexiest dreams. I wasn’t difficult to please. I was reasonable. All I asked was that the Universe bless me with the absence of this jackhole!

What is one to do when you summon a hitchhiker and they take up residence inside your head? No fifteen-year-old girl has a good answer. With my brother and neighbor circling one another in a strange mating dance, I barely know how to ask for help.

I mean really, all I did was a little spell to Invoke Helpful Spirits and Positive Energy Beings.

Note: THE DREAM KEEPERS is a New Adult book and for readers over the age of 18+ due to sexual content, substance abuse and profanity. This is part one of a trilogy and ends on a CLIFFHANGER.
This book is rated M for Mischief.

With Michaela in the debt of Shayteen, Whisper is finally free of the Hell World he suffered in for hundreds of demon years. But there seems to be a price for Whisper’s all-new freedom and it has made Whisper’s life just as, or even more complicated. Whisper is serving his true nature and dealing with Michaela’s service to Shayteen, all while trying to hang on to a stubborn soulmate who won’t forgive him for the most ridiculously perceived transgressions in this life and one or two from some previous ones. Stuck in the middle of everything, is a broken hearted Gabriel whose odd obsessions with cooking shows, has turned him into Suzy Homemaker.

~ It’s best to know, you leave those you care about before they leave you. I’m Theadora Langdon … and EVERYTHING sucks.

Note: WISHCRAFT is a New Adult book and for readers over the age of 18+ due to sexual content, reference to sexual assault, substance abuse and profanity. This is part two of a trilogy and ends on a CLIFFHANGER.
