Synopsis

The silver-fox and the faux bodyguard… Sebastian Who’s the true hero behind the Hollywood heartthrob, crime-fighting, adventure-seeking international man of mystery? Me. I’m the real Baxter. Well, I wear the suit and let the action play out onscreen. You want to know the secret of my success? Sell the story you want to tell. Even if you have to bend the truth a little. Okay…a lot. Trust me, no one will notice. Except Trent, who seems to notice everything. And for some reason, I like that. I like him. I’m just not sure what to do about it. Trent Look, I’m not exactly killing it. I’m a typical struggling actor-slash-waiter, hoping for a break. And boom…in walks Sebastian Rourke. He’s a cutthroat, wickedly charming silver fox, a Hollywood legend in the making. No joke. You’ve got to sell a piece of your soul to get in this man’s orbit. Or fake a British accent, then take a job playing bodyguard to fool the press. As one does. I know I should take advantage of the very strange situation I find myself in, but I’m not sure I’m cut out for it. However, I’m willing to take a chance, ’cause I want the real Seb. Even though it might cost me everything. The Real Baxter is a MM age-gap, bisexual romance featuring the man who has everything and the actor who’s willing to show him what’s real.

Excerpt

“Home sweet home, eh?” Seb gathered his suit coat and his takeout bag with a strained smile. “Something like that.” “Hey, for what it’s worth, I didn’t mean to offend you earlier. Under different circumstances, I might go for a guy like you.” His snort-laugh oozed sarcasm. “Wow, I’m flattered.” I shrugged, aware that I should probably stop talking. Of course, I couldn’t do it. “You’re real. I get that. It’s just that…observationally speaking, real you and real me don’t mix. We got nothin’ in common.” Seb unfastened his seat belt and whirled to face me. I couldn’t read him in the shadows. It would have been nice to know if he was amused or irked…or both. “Okay, first of all, ‘observationally speaking’ is a terrible way to begin any sentence and second—and most important, you know nothing about ‘real me.’ ” I held my hands up in surrender. “You’re right. I had no idea you were the rich, old dude in the ‘Who’s your type?’ scenario.” “I never said I was, but now that you think I am…you suddenly want to date me, eh?” “Date you?” I scratched my temple as if mulling over the idea. “No way. But I’d totally do you.” Seb froze with his hand on the door lever, threw his head back, and guffawed. He literally had the best laugh I’d ever heard—contagious, hearty, and kind of wicked. It bounced merrily off the old car’s interior, making everything feel shiny and new. Including me. I couldn’t help smiling. I tried to think of something clever and somewhat humorous to keep his attention for another minute or two, but I got sidetracked, staring at his stubbled jaw, full lips, and the deep crinkles at the corners of his eyes. For a half a beat, I wished he were someone else—less in demand, less wealthy, less connected. Crazy, I know. This was why I didn’t go for sophisticated types. I didn’t stand a chance with a guy like Seb. And on that dose of reality…I inclined my head with a meaningful grunt as he composed himself. “You have no idea how tempting that sounds. Thanks for the ride. Thanks for tonight. It was…exactly what I needed.” “Happy to be of service.” He pulled at the handle—once, twice… “The door is stuck.” “It does that sometimes. You just have to wiggle the handle.” Seb tried again. “No, it’s definitely stuck.” I unfastened my seat belt and leaned across him. Bad move. I breathed in the scent of his cologne and felt scorched by his body heat. And of course, the door didn’t budge. I turned off the engine and held a finger up, signaling a bright idea on the horizon. “Hang on. We’ll do this the old-fashioned way.” I hopped out of the car and used my key to manually unlock the passenger side door with a flourish. “Ta-da!” He unfolded his long legs, somehow managing to look like an A-list celebrity sliding from the back seat of a limo at a red-carpet event. He slung his suit coat over the crook of his arm, grabbed his to-go bag, and stepped aside. “Thank you.” “I’m the one who should be thanking you. So, thanks for taking me to pick up my wheels, thanks for drinks and the burger, and thanks for not laughing at my impromptu Baxter audition.” Seb grinned. “You’re welcome. It was…fun.” I nodded, shoving my hands into my pockets awkwardly before angling my head toward the house. “You really rattle around in that place by yourself?” “Yeah. My kids are here a lot. I have Oliver tomorrow and…” He squinted as if looking for something or someone in the dark. “I have friends.” “You do?” I teased. He made a funny face. “One or two. I think.” We smiled as if sharing a joke. But the punchline was a silent acknowledgment of temporary camaraderie. We weren’t friends or coworkers. He probably wouldn’t remember my name next week. However, right this very moment, we had a connection. Maybe it was akin to making friends with your seatmate on a long flight, but it was something. I held on to it fiercely, marking the ticking seconds to the soundtrack of chirping crickets and the rustle of leaves in the late summer evening breeze. I studied the sharp planes of his cheekbones, softened by the laugh lines at the corners of his eyes. I noted the hint of gray in his close-shaven beard when he licked his bottom lip and— Oh, fuck. Yeah, time to go. “I should, uh…” I hiked my thumb behind me, then rested my hand on the open door. I was about to close it when I spotted his milkshake. “Do you want your shake?” “Um…” Seb switched the to-go bag to his left hand and stepped toward me. “I think it’s gone.” I pulled it from the cupholder and turned to find him closer than expected. As in…we stood grungy boot to Italian loafer. I shook the cup. “Might be a little something in there.” “No, I’m done. I can throw it away in the house. I don’t want to leave trash in your car.” I scoffed. “Dude, have you seen my car?” Seb chuckled…and I joined in. When his laughter faded, we were back to staring at each other. Only now, it wasn’t awkward. It was…something completely different. A little unsteady and unsure, but somehow promising. I didn’t move. I didn’t sidle past him with an absent good-bye or a bro high five. I didn’t try to draw him into more conversation. I didn’t want to break the spell…as if I had any power over what was happening. And something was definitely happening. Maybe because it was so unexpected, it took me a few extra seconds to define it. Lust. Hunger. Need. He wanted me.

Is his heart the mirror she needs to finally see her true beauty?

A terrible accident left Eliza with a troubled heart and an unsightly scar. No Terran man wants a woman with a disfigured face, no matter how kind or hardworking. So when Eliza receives the opportunity to adopt a baby and move to a remote frontier moon, she jumps at the chance. She falls in love with baby Clementine the moment she holds the little one in her arms.

But her feelings for Clem’s tall, dark and handsome guard are much more complicated.

Troy’s active duty as a member of the elite Invicta dragon force ended the day he found out he was assigned to protect an Imberian baby. The tiny creature is helpless, smelly, sticky, and the absolute light of his life – though he doesn’t like to say so in so many words. After all, a brutal dragon warrior would never make a fool of himself over a small whelp. But the moment he lays eyes on Clementine’s new adoptive mother, he knows he is in a whole new world of trouble.

He can’t stop thinking about the small, fierce Terran. But his dedication to duty has him desperate to keep his thoughts, and his hands, to himself.

When a local man comes to court Eliza, she feels compelled to consider his suit. After all, what other prospects does she have? But before she can answer, a neighbor asks for help in the form of a wagon trip all the way out to the mines and back. Many ships have lost their navigations systems and wrecked in Han-2’s Bermuda Triangle-like atmosphere, and the lush planet is now littered with hundreds of wrecked crafts, grown through with trees and occupied by animals. And the animals aren’t the only things lurking.

But Eliza’s got a big dragon warrior with her. What could possibly go wrong?

If you like strong women, hunky aliens, wild adventures, steamy sensual scenes, and happily-ever-afters, then you’ll love the Alien Adoption Agency!

And the mystery woman leaving my sin city hotel room – the one with legs for days and the sexiest backside I’ve ever seen?

Although I can’t remember how we got hitched, I know I want her more than I’ve ever wanted a woman before.

With my heart aching in my chest, I make one fatal mistake by letting her leave after our one night of wedded bliss.

She’s my wife and I don’t even know her name.

Apparently, tequila and matrimony don’t mix. But despite my Rochester Riot buddies begging me to forget all about it, destroy the evidence and fly home to fulfill my NHL dreams, I don’t want a divorce.

I want her.

Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Xavier Campbell needs a miracle. If he doesn’t want to lose the life he’s worked so hard to build, he must get married, and quickly. Trouble is, there is no woman in his life. Not even a friend with benefits. As a regular Dom at Eternal Eros, he gets what he needs and goes home. And a wife? Hell, no. This Highlander is single for a reason. So when his entire existence threatens to come crashing down, he realizes he might have to make some adjustments…or a bargain with the she-devil who beguiles him, body and mind, from the first moment he touches her.

Emma Morton wants a man. To play with. Watch television with. Cuddle with. And yes, God help her, she wants him hard, naked, and in her bed. More than once. What she doesn’t want is complications. Expectations. She is dedicated to her work, to building her business. She’s worked too long and too hard to change her plans for something as fleeting as love. No matter how much she wishes otherwise, life has repeatedly proven that romance is a myth. Pure fairytale.

But passion? Yes. She could definitely go for a ‘Single’s Night ’of play—and release—at the infamous Eternal Eros.

After one scorching night of pleasure, a reckless bargain is made. Marriage with an expiration date. A business arrangement. Nothing more.

But what starts as a farce becomes a bit too real and Xavier realizes this is no game. Telling Emma the truth would be dangerous…especially when he realizes he is playing for keeps.

This badass bartender is as tasty as the whiskey he pours.

Mitch ‘Moonlighter’ Tirone landed his nickname by excelling at two careers. Hardworking contractor by day, he trades the power drill for a bar apron at night, pouring ʼem strong at his old man’s gin mill. He’s cool as the brews he serves until he spies a flame-haired goddess cruising by on a bright pink bicycle. One gobsmacked glance, and ʼLighter turns loopy as a lush. First item on the gotta-have-her agenda: let’s find out what the beauty likes to drink…

His mystery woman is the town’s sexiest teetotaler.

Substance abuse counselor Andy Lachlan possesses a boy’s name, a centerfold’s figure, and a brutal past. Daughter of a violent drunk, alcohol is her no-go zone, and she’s passionate about assisting addicts while avoiding the liquor lifestyle like the plague. Hours spent advising clients or pedaling off the angst on a hippyish ten-speed don’t leave much time for fun-n-games, but this new girl in the ’hood isn’t about to settle for anyone less than the alpha abstainer of her dreams…

Professional partier, and despiser of all things booze. The chemistry is combustible when bad boy and bohemian meet, but can the star-crossed lovers make it work and find the ‘heavenly mix’?

EXCERPT:

Ah, hell, yeah…

I could see wet, puffy lips caressing the rim of a rocks glass, slowly savoring a mouthful of fine Irish whiskey.

A pointy tongue licking at the goodness like a sexy little cat…

Shoving the cash into the register, I scowled at my reflection in the cloudy mirror behind it, taking note of my thunderous brow and locked, whiskered jaw.

What does mystery woman drink? Easy enough to discover, lame ass. What say you grow a pair, quit staring down the street like a dipshitty dickhead, and fucking make it your mission to find out?

Stung by the literary lovebug at a tender young age, JC has been devouring spicy romantic fiction ever since. Seriously… What could be more delectable at the end of a rough day than a big, bad, moody male brought to his knees by a kick-ass, rock star of a heroine?

Well, besides Tom Hardy showing up on your doorstep with car trouble. Dreaming up “I wish” fantasies while slogging through her woefully alpha-scarce world, JC invites readers to indulge in decadent escape through her foulmouthed and passion-saturated tales.

Contemporary Romance; Sports/Football Romance; Second Chance Romance

This is a game I’m not willing to lose.

When you’re at the top of professional football, the fall to the bottom is steep.

I was the king of Nashville. Now I’m the problem child.

One minute I’m the face of the franchise. Next thing I know I’m being sent away after my self destructive ways have become too much to handle.

Little does my team know that sending me back to my hometown is the worst thing they could have done.

She’s here. The one who broke me. The one who sent me to rock bottom.

She’s also the only one who can put my damaged self back together.

I’ve loved Lucy Valenti since the moment I met her. Her big brown eyes and kind smile hooked me in. Her faith in me made me want to be a better man. She’s the only one who has ever seen me as more than a football player.

She was my end game. My final play. But I ran out of time.

Or did I? Because I can’t ignore the sparks that fly when we are around each other. Or the heat that still burns between us.

I always said the offseason was going to be our time. And if I don’t throw one last Hail Mary, it might be the end.

And this is a game I’m not willing to lose.

“Lulu, Stop!”

I stop and turn to find Bryce inches from me. “Don’t call me that. Not anymore.”

“Why? Why can’t I call you that?” His face is so close to mine as he silently begs for answers. He might be trying to come off as intimidating, but my heart says otherwise having him this close.

“Because I hate it.”

“Liar.”

“I didn’t lie to you!” I yell, knowing we’re causing a scene. I feel the eyes of Laurel Heights on us.

“Yes, you did. You did then and you are now.”

“I did what I thought was best.”

“So you’ve said.” His voice drips with disdain.

“I can’t do this. Not now, and not here.”

“Then when? When are you going to give me the explanation I deserve? Coincidentally, it all started right after you decided I wasn’t worth having in your life anymore.”

Tears are burning in my eyes, but I push them back. I know I owe him an explanation, but I’m not ready.

Every time he’s low, he needs me to pull him back up. Every time there is a hard decision or his dad decides to pop back into his life, I’m there to talk him through it. And, as much as it kills me not to help him, I can’t. He has to learn how to navigate his problems without my help.

“Yes, you can. You’ve always been able to.”

“Is that a joke? In case you haven’t seen—”

“Oh, I’ve seen,” I say, taking a fortifying breath. “I’ve seen it all. The headlines. The pictures. The games. But Bryce, you’ve always been able to. I’ve been your crutch for years, and I can’t be that anymore. I’m sorry. I can’t be the girl who you go to when things get hard and then leave behind with empty promises of a future that is never going to come. It’s not fair to me, Bryce. It hurts me too much.”

“But it was finally time!” he yells, his hands gripping my shoulders. “It was time for us.”

I laugh, but there’s no humor to it. “What made that time different?”

My question silences him. If he’s honest with himself, he knows that’s just another promise he wouldn’t have kept.

I use the silence to shrug away from his hold and race to my car down the street. Thankful that I left it unlocked, I hurry and get in, immediately locking it and firing up the engine.

When I look back toward the front of the store with tears streaming down my face, I don’t see the man who has been on the front page of every tabloid in America.

I see the lost boy I first fell in love with.
