Author: Jess Bryant
Genre: Paranormal (Shifter) Romance
Release Date: Both Available NOW
Cover Design: Melissa Gill Designs

Sometimes fate gets it all wrong.

Zoey Kent has lived with that fact ever since she turned eighteen and learned that the man she loved could never be hers. He’s a born shifter, a wolf, and she’s a mere human. Fate doesn’t care if on paper they’re a perfect pair. She isn’t his fated mate and she’s resigned herself to the knowledge that someday, she’ll have to watch Michael mate with another. It’s never crossed her mind that there might be someone else out there for her, that she would be the one to mate another, to choose another over everything she’s ever known or wanted.

Sometimes fate gets it all right.

Rafe Hudson left his pack behind years ago. Physically and mentally scarred from an attack that left his parents and twin dead, he walked away from his responsibilities as Alpha. He never intended to return but lone wolf or not, he can’t leave Michael open to an attack he’s learned is coming for his only brother. What he didn’t know was that going home would mean scenting his mate, the one person in the world that could make him whole again, that could give him everything he thought he’d lost. His pack, his home and his family.

But fate always has a plan.

There’s no way Michael’s brother is her future, is there? Just like there’s no way that the girl his brother has loved since they were kids, was always meant to be his, right?

Only fate knows why they were brought together but there is one thing for sure, the sparks between Zoey and Rafe are undeniable. The bond between them is unbreakable. And together… they’ll change the face of the pack forever.

Fate can be cruel.

Luna DeLuca has lost everything except for her faith in herself. Kidnapped, tortured and threatened by a male that’s already killed half her family, she knows the only way to save the other half is by offering herself up to him. To save her sisters, she’s willing to do anything, even accept a claim from a male that isn’t her mate, a mark on her soul that will ruin her forever. But if this is what her family needs, what her pack needs, she’ll do it to save them all.

Fate can be twisted.

Michael Hudson thought his mission to save the neighboring Crescent pack was about helping out a friend. He thought it was about avenging an attack on his own. But the second he sets his eyes on the beautiful girl locked away in a dank basement he knows she’s why he was put on the face of this planet. She’s the reason he’s here. She’s everything. She’s his. His mate. His fate. His future. Only, she bears the scent of another and is nothing like what he imagined his fated mate to be.

But fate can also be kind.

As brave as she is, Luna’s wolf is submissive and submissive wolves aren’t meant to lead packs. They aren’t meant to be Queens. She knows that. So does Michael. But when he refuses to give up on her, refuses to walk away or back down, she begins to see why fate put them together. She softens him and he strengthens her and maybe, just maybe, if they believe in fate enough they can find their way to forever.

Today I was sitting enjoying a cup of black coffee watching the people dashing in and out of my favorite café when the sound of swearing and a strawberry-blond whirlwind burst into my life. Luckily, today, I was feeling like a real human being, not an “invisible.” I had a new shirt from the shelter, and it looked nice on me. My time on the streets and at Duke’s had turned me into a clean freak about my appearance and my surroundings. Now on the streets, I was still obsessed with both keeping my appearance and cleaning up at the shelter. The staff at the shelter loved me for it.

As I sat nursing my coffee, my eyes locked onto that petite woman as she swore like a dockworker. I couldn’t tell what she looked like because she was looking down at her phone, and her eyes were hidden from me by her hair. She wasn’t having a good day, from the sound of the cursed frustration and her threatening her smartphone with bodily harm. Watching her swear and struggle brought a smile to my face, and I couldn’t resist getting closer to her.

I moved from my usual spot at a corner table to stand close to her. I couldn’t explain it; I was drawn to her; I know it was creepy, but her pull on me was unstoppable. Before I clocked what I was doing, I was standing next to her; I realized what a vision she was. Her wavy golden hair lay down her back past her shoulders. The sunlight hit her blond streaks, changing the color. I wanted to lean in and gently inhale, but thought I’d better not.

From where I stood behind her, she would fit perfectly against me if I just pulled her close. She must have been about five eight because she came right under my chin and I was a little over six feet tall with my boots on. Looking down, I saw she was wearing a small heel but seemed like she’d be a tiny thing in my arms.

I was getting ahead of myself; this woman was no one to me. All I knew at this moment was I wanted to buy her a cup of coffee, smell her hair, and talk to her for the rest of the day like an average person. Shit, who was I kidding: I wasn’t an ordinary person. Following her around was nuts. I must be horny; it had been a long time since I’d been with a woman or even my left hand. All I could imagine was staying here the rest of the day, smiling at her, and laughing at her swearing like a sailor.

As the line moved, we got closer to the counter. She was still distracted with her phone, but she stopped to order her drink.

“I’ll have a double espresso, please.”

I cleared my throat. “Stacy, I’ll get this espresso for her; she looks like she needs someone to buy her a coffee.”

Stacy pretended not to be surprised at my request. “Sure, Phin, no problem.” Stacy was shocked when I pulled out money. I used my savings sparingly, it was only meant for emergencies, but I kept a little cash on me just in case. She probably assumed I was broke because I helped out at the café from time to time and they gave me free food and drinks. Plus, I think she liked me, so she’d let me hang out during the day.

When I peeked over her shoulder at her phone, I saw the cracked screen. I could still see the icons on the phone through the fragments of cracked glass. My smartphone was an older version of her broken one. Anything worth more would have had me beaten up and robbed on the streets.

She was still staring at her phone. “Thanks for the coffee, you didn’t have to do that. You are right. I am having the worst day. My phone just slipped out of my hand and cracked.” She scrubbed her hand over her face; sheer frustration was written all over her. “Shit, this couldn’t happen at a worse time. I am such a klutz.” She swiped her finger across the screen on her phone and winced. “Ouch, I got a glass splinter in my fucking finger now.”

She finally looked up at me, and I was stunned, I saw the most beautiful light blue eyes I’d ever seen. They were the color of the polar ice caps. You know the glaciers you see on the nature channel shows. I looked into them, and they took my breath away. I didn’t want to look away or speak. Without hesitation, I took her hand and inspected her finger, feeling a slight tremble, but she didn’t pull away. I was just thrilled to have a reason to touch her.

“You can’t keep using it; you need to get it replaced. That glass will splinter as you’ve already found out, and it will only get worse. Do you have your information all backed up?” I couldn’t let go of her warm hand, stroking it softly, trying to give her comfort but seeking my own. I kept wanting to ask her questions, afraid she might leave.

She gave me a weak smile, still not pulling her hand away. “Fortunately, I do have it backed up. The Apple store is just up the street. I’ll take it back to them.” She held up her other hand with crossed fingers and smiled at me. This time she had a twinkle in her ice-blue eyes. “Fingers crossed it won’t be too difficult to replace.”

She finally looked down at our hands, and I reluctantly let go just as Stacy came back with her espresso.

“I think you’ll live if you don’t try to use your phone.”

She took her coffee, then turned back to me and smiled, looking at me like a real person, not an invisible. “Thanks for being so nice, and the coffee.”

I returned her smile. “No problem, see you around.” I was never so sorry to utter that sentence. I went back to my spot and drank my cold black coffee. She waved at me as she left, drinking her espresso, almost running into an incoming customer. Maybe she was a klutz, the sexiest klutz I’d ever seen. I was disappointed as she headed up the street, and then I saw her walking animatedly back the other direction. I laughed as I watched her, as she walked away muttering to herself. The thought kept a smile on my face for longer than I realized. Thinking about this woman, she was so damn cute with her swearing and klutzy behavior.

I hadn’t wanted to make any connections with women after what happened with Lana. I had to wait until after my inheritance to find that particular person; there was too much at stake.

Considering the size of the city, I figured I’d never see her again, but I couldn’t let that happen. I’d come back tomorrow and hope to see her. All I had to do now was to go back to the shelter to help and get some food and a bed for tonight. I did my best to put that woman out of my mind, but she gave me hope that my life could change for the better.

The worst part of being in love with my straight best friend is the fact he’s too oblivious to see it.
Years of pining have left me exhausted, and I need a break from Dex. I need space to get over my feelings. But when his relationship falls apart and he turns to me for comfort, I cave immediately.
If there’s one thing I hate more than being hurt, it’s seeing Dex struggle. I can’t leave him in a time of need, even if my friends say it’s my biggest downfall.
They say Dexter Mitchale is my weakness, but if that’s true, I don’t want to be strong.

I’ve always been the dumb one. It’s what I’m known for, and usually I don’t let it get to me.
I have hockey, and I have my best friend, Tripp. What more do I need?
To settle down? No thank you. Marriage? Hard pass.
According to ex-girlfriends, that makes me “irresponsible.”
But the solution I come up with to get over my fear of commitment might be my dumbest idea yet. Not only does it have team management breathing down my neck, but it puts a strain on my friendship with Tripp.
This PR nightmare could lose me the only person I’ve ever loved.
Losing girlfriends is nothing. Losing Tripp? It’s not an option.
I’ll do whatever it takes to keep him.

It’s impossible to be down or confused when you’re full of margaritas and tacos. Tripp’s suggestion for us to go out was genius, and now, as we wait in line for Rump, I can finally relax. Things this afternoon have almost been back to normal, and I didn’t realize exactly how empty I was until now.

“Would you rather,” I start, “nipple piercing or dick piercing?”

“Nipple for me, dick for the guy I’m with.”

Well that’s something I’ve never considered. “Is that … does it make a difference?”

“I know with chicks it helps hit the—”

“Same thing for dudes, just different location.”

Oh. “Huh. I hadn’t thought of that before.”

“It also makes giving head more interesting.”

“It does?” Okay, when I’d asked that question, I didn’t think it all the way through. I’d meant which would Tripp rather get, but now that we’re talking about it, I have way too much cock on the brain. I can’t stop picturing it, and now I’m really curious about how it all works. You’d think having a gay best friend would mean I know a hell of a lot more about gay sex than I actually do.

“What do you like about it?” I ask.

“Giving head.”

Tripp looks at me funny. “It’s a dick and dicks are hot.”

Not the answer I was hoping for, but I have no clue what I wanted to hear. I don’t think dicks are hot, so that doesn’t help me. But when Tripp looks away and I let myself take him in again, I can’t deny the stirring of interest that hits me.

I’m curious.

Probably too curious for a straight guy.

But until I’m faced with a cock, how will I ever know how I’d react? I never thought I’d get hard over having Tripp touch me and that happened, so maybe I could find a dick sexy. Or his, at least.

And I promised myself I wouldn’t think about these things tonight. Tonight is about getting back to normal. I wrap my arm around Tripp’s neck and haul him closer to press a kiss to his hair.

“You smell like hot sauce,” he says, elbowing me.

I breathe hot sauce breath all over his cheek and tighten my hold on him.

“Fuck off,” Tripp says, squirming.

“Sharing’s caring.”

“One bro does not share stank breath with another bro.”

We wrestle as the line moves forward and only break apart once we hit the front and the bouncer apologizes to Tripp about making him wait in line instead of being let straight in, as though it’s some huge fail on his part.

“I didn’t realize you came here that much,” I say.

“I don’t, but they like it when I do because, you know, publicity of having an NHL player at their venue. I always tell them not to give me VIP treatment, but they don’t listen.”

Finally, I get my first view of Rump.

It’s busy and looks like most clubs I’ve been to. Dark and moody with flashing lights over the dance floor. The biggest difference here is it’s about ninety percent guys.

Tripp’s come here plenty of times without me, and I’ve always thankfully been aware enough that it’s his place to hook up, so I’ve never pushed to come with him even though I’d be an awesome wingman.

But as Tripp takes my hand and pulls me through the crowd, I’m suddenly very glad he said that grinding up on other guys is out of the question for him tonight, because even in the dark club, he’s getting a lot of attention.

I have no idea if these guys recognize him or think he’s hot, but I definitely notice the heads turning in our direction.

Tripp pauses, tugging me close to tilt his lips to my ear. “Drinks or dancing?” He pulls back to see my reply, and I use it as a chance to try to see him the way the guys here do. The dark red hair and freckles are adorable, and his hazel eyes are big and round, but that’s where the soft qualities end. His jawline is solid, his neck and shoulders are thick, and there’s an overpowering masculine quality to him that I’ve never paid much attention to before.

Tripp has always been Tripp. All of these things put together make up my best friend, but breaking his features down into his nose, his hands, the quiet confidence he has when he’s around me ….

“Dex?” His crooked smirk comes out and connects with some sort of hook behind my belly button. It tugs and feels weird and good at the same time.

“Dancing,” I shout.

His hand tightens around mine, and he starts walking again.

It wasn’t a hard question when the margaritas are still making everything softer around the edges.

Tripp gets attention on the dance floor too, so as soon as he comes to a stop in the crowd of bodies, I immediately pull him against me. I’ve always been needy for his attention, and it’s no different tonight. I want to be the only one Tripp pays attention to.

My hands close over his back until we’re chest to chest, and Tripp’s breath hits my jaw.

“Last chance to back out of the grinding,” he says.

“What, you think I don’t have moves?” I let my hands fall to his ass and pull him tighter against me. Having a muscular body pressed against mine isn’t as weird as it probably should be, but this is far from the first time I’ve been close to Tripp. It’s just the first time I’ve done it while grabbing his ass.

“I know you’ve got moves,” he says, voice barely audible over the music. “You forget, I know everything about you.” Then after a second of hesitating, Tripp’s hands find my sides, slide down to my hips like earlier, and then dip lower to grab my ass as well. “You’re playing my game now, Dex.”

Two subs looking for one Dom.

Desperate to escape the clutches of an increasingly sadistic and abusive Dom, Kevin and Jack seize their opportunity to escape and runaway to Galway. They shave their heads and do their best to avoid being detected while searching for a new Dom who is prepared to take them on as package deal. Their running leads them to Cleary’s Pub—a bar full of leather-clad Doms and subs, owned and run by Master Cleary.

Master Cameron Cleary was in need of a new sub—it had been far too long since he’d had a boy in his life. Each night as he ran his pub filled with leather-clad Doms, accompanied by their subs, he became more aware of how solitary his life had become.

Can the most damaged of sins embrace redemption?

By night, fallen angel Triel Ekron is a successful nightclub and restaurant owner in Las Vegas. By day, he enjoys assassinating humans in the most creative of ways.

When his latest mark turns out to be highly gifted in the kitchen, Triel gives her a choice: become his new imprisoned chef, or watch her family be murdered in front of her before she’s killed too. After all, his last chef just met an untimely death—at his hand—and Triel is looking for some new flavors to indulge in.

Cassie Fleming has dreamed her whole life of owning her own restaurant, following in her beloved mother’s footsteps. But when her mother’s murderer finds her in Witness Protection, she’s left with an ultimatum—and saving what’s left of her family is the only option. She’ll do anything for them, including signing away her freedom.

Triel’s brutal demonic side will wage war against Cassie’s kind and forgiving nature, but it’ll take a lot more than the cruelness of a fallen angel to kill her spirit. And no matter how much Triel tries to avoid it, Cassie gets under his skin in a way that makes him question everything he’s believed for so long. Will he put aside his prejudices and admit he’s been wrong about humans all along, or will he destroy the precious gift his father has offered him?

Meet Marissa Honeycutt

I started my first writing journal in 7th grade after a dream about my favorite boy band, New Kids on the Block. A dream also inspired the writing of The Life of Anna and Distorted Hope. I dreamed I was kidnapped and taken to Mexico. That dream ultimately morphed into the book now known as Distorted Hope.

I never set out to become a published author. I never imagined that there were other people out there with twisted minds like my own. But after sharing rough drafts of The Life of Anna, I decided to be brave and publish the first part of Anna’s story, Enslaved. When The Life of Anna took off as it did, I was in complete shock. The success of the books humbled and encouraged me. I’ve made such good friends through my writing and I can’t imagine ever stopping.

I write for myself, but always keep my reader’s hearts in mind. I follow my characters’ lead and sometimes they lead me into the darkness, but there’s always light somewhere, if you look hard enough. There’s always hope.

I love hearing from my readers. They keep me going; keep me writing. An author is nothing without a reader.
