Thanks to an object Nora, 17, inherits from her mother, everything in Nature, the trees, the water, even frogs come to life in a new way that shows Nora not only the interconnectedness of all things but the grave danger the physical world is in, thanks to the destructive ways of humans.

This new superpower only makes Nora’s battle to save her murdered fatherโ€™s tree farm more complicated. Now she not only has enemies in the human world but because of the object she possesses which is sacred to the world of frogs, she has enemies there too. Chief among them is Ranya, Queen of Frogs, who sees Nora as a threat to her reign. Her son, the frog prince Azzie, however, takes a different view and proposes something audaciousโ€”something that might save both worlds.

But the cost of Azzie’s request, to Nora, is high and under the light of the pink moon she must decideโ€”will she put aside her own wellbeing to help, or will she stand aside and watch our ecosystem crumble?

Luanne Brown266Luanne C. Brown fell in love with nature as a kid, camping with her family around the Midwest. When her family emigrated to Canada to start a commune, her love for the forest deepened, because that’s where she’d escape to avoid doing chores.

As a college student, she did a stint for the Research Board of Canada in the mountain lakes in the Okanagan area of British Columbia. There, the frogs serenaded her to sleep every night and told her their deep dark secrets. One of these secrets gave birth to a retelling of the frog prince tale.

In the subsequent decades, Luanne has worn many hats, most of them with fountain pens sticking out of the brim. When she’s not volunteering her time for various causes or daydreaming about her next story, she works as a freelance senior copywriter for high tech companies in the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere.

Married to her high school sweetheart, they have two children, six grandchildren, and a mini-Aussie Shepherd, named Linka.
