“Well, then if you want to check me out, you better do it before I become your employee.” Jayden grinned. That was his only shot at getting Harlan. He wasn’t sure he even wanted him, but he didn’t want to be alone right now with the horrific mess his family was in. He just needed lots of hugs and cuddling in bed. How could he tell him what he wanted right now?

“You’ve got a point, Jade. I might have to make my move before you begin working for me.” Harlan sipped his wine.

“I bet if you wanted an employee, you could just break that rule.”

“Is that what you think I’m about?”

“I don’t know you well enough, but you can do whatever you want.”

“I can’t make someone love me.”

“I can’t either.”

“I wish I could take you to my room and lock my arms around you. I want all your hurting to go away, but that wouldn’t be the right thing to do. Can I walk you to your room?”

“I wouldn’t mind a hug. I think I need one before I go to my room.” Jayden rose slowly from his chair, not wanting to return to his room.
