I stood and pulled out my wallet. “I’ll pay the tab on the way out.” This was a mistake, and if I didn’t stop it now, it would be a one-way train on the Miami-Jinx shit show tour.

“What? Where you going?” He stood and dropped his napkin on the table, but I turned away from him and kept moving, looking back over my shoulder.

“Away. Out. I’m done. I’m not doing this again.”

“Come on. I’m just expressing myself and telling you what I’d like. That’s in no way the same thing as before.”

That stopped me. I turned to face him. “It’s exactly like before. And I warned you.” I pointed at him, then poked my finger into his chest. “I’m not taking your shit.” I turned again and walked to the front. This time, I didn’t look back.
