After a painful break-up in university, Bethany Clarke has sworn off love to focus on her career. From her humble South Side beginnings to her position as an architect intern at a prestigious Chicago firm, she’s proven to be a hard worker and is proud of her accomplishments. In three years, she’ll be a fully licensed architect which is more important to her than anything else.

Confirmed bachelor Nicholas Grey is more than the playboy perpetrated by the tabloids. Now his position as CEO of the architecture firm Grey & Company is on the line, and his mother’s interference is making things more difficult. Nick’s committed to his work, but, in order to be taken seriously, he needs to land a huge project. A stable personal life will help guarantee the contract.

Fairy Godmother Faye Delmore hears Nick’s plea and steps in to help. Posing as a publicist, she suggests a strategy to polish his public image, which includes convincing Beth to play his wife. Faye knows Nick needs the huge project to save his job, but she also knows he needs Beth in his life.

What happens when you add a fairy godmother who loves playing matchmaker into the equation? A future designed by destiny.

Fairy Godmothers, Incorporated

Through the iridescent crystal ball, Faye watched the handsome man stand by the impressive Bellagio fountains.

***

He held the coin in his hand, flicking it between his fingers. Making a wish seemed juvenile, but judging from the numerous coins shimmering in the water, he wasn’t the only one appealing to Lady Luck.

***

His wish was simple. Land an important work contract. He whispered it fervently as he tossed the coin in the water. Mission complete, he looked sheepish as he ventured into the hotel.

Over the years, the fairy godmothers of Fairy Godmothers, Incorporated (Faye, Ginger, and Rainy) had heard thousands, if not millions, of wishes. Faye could tell there was a story behind this wish. Well, there usually was. It just seemed like this contract held more significance than a mere work accomplishment. This young man was basing his entire self-worth on it. If there was a way to help him, she would find it.

Fairy Godmothers, Incorporated (or FGI for short) began over 30 years ago when three misfit fairies combined their special abilities and talents to help both magicals and humans. Faye came from a politically connected family and, tired of being used as her family’s pawn, she’d left France to make a new life for herself in America. She met Ginger and Rainy, two fairies who also wanted to make their own way, in America.

The fairies of FGI work their magic in a subtle way. With limited aid of their special abilities, the help they provide is a nudge in the right direction, a reminder that their charges already have the answers within themselves. In Designed by Destiny, Faye connects with Beth and Nick as

their publicist, hired to facilitate Beth’s transition into Chicago society. She soon discovers (officially) the full story behind the Vegas wedding and has sage advice for both Beth and Nick about their relationship.

Cinderella is my favorite fairy tale, and Disney Princess, and I love the concept of a Fairy Godmother. It resonates with my sense of justice that the little gal (or guy) gets a helping hand.

Intrigued? Designed by Destiny is available November 15 from Tirgearr Publishing.
