EXCERPT:

“Are they still looking?” I ask.

His smile grows deeper into his cheeks just before his tongue tastes the center of his lips. My focus is locked onto his face, every nuance of his expression from the creases caused by his smile and the flutter of his dark lashes as his gaze tracks our audience.

“Oh yeah.” His words come out with a hint of arrogance and pride, and as his attention moves back to my face, his tongue takes another pass at his now parted lips. Without my permission, my tongue does the same, my lips numb from the fantasy of him grabbing my head and drawing me toward him for a kiss.

“How far do you think we should take this?” That’s how my question comes out, but what I mean is how far are you willing to take this.

About the book: Morgan Bentley is good at getting attention, except from those she wants it from most. The 18-year-old daughter of one of Boston’s wealthiest business moguls, she’s been trending and influencing since the day she was born. And for a while, the privilege and ease that came along with fame was enough. But as Morgan grew up, being thought of as the pretty face who told the masses what to wear and where to be seen wasn’t what she really wanted out of life. She wanted to be taken seriously. From the public, and more importantly, from her father. James Fuentes might be the most talented quarterback to ever throw on the Welles Academy field. His dad, the new Welles head coach, is counting on it–both to shut up the inevitable critics accusing him of playing his son over the competition and to ensure James gets into one of the best business colleges in the country. While the gridiron comes easy to James, though, the classroom is another story. And his big business dreams are riding on his football talent to get his foot in an Ivy League door. All he needs is a winning season and grades that are good enough. James has always had a problem with distractions, however, and Morgan Bently is the most tempting of all. Confident, beautiful, curvy and the literal object of every guy on campus’ fantasies, Morgan is impossible to ignore. What starts as innocent flirtation and a crush grows into the only meaningful relationship either of them has. And before they realize it, feelings are involved. But being the center of attention–and gossip–comes with risk. Morgan knows this better than anyone. Reputation is everything at Welles Academy, and rumors have a way of taking people down. Even the truest of loves might not stand a chance when whispers start to circle. But what good is all that fame and power if you can’t use it to satisfy your own heart when it’s on the verge of breaking?

Excerpt:

It’s hard to imagine how heartbroken I’d have been if I lost the dream I’d worked at tirelessly for only six years. There’s no way for me to know how hard it was for Noah to lose the one he’d had for so much longer.

“Take a couple of steps forward,” I say. He does and I watch him with a trained eye, not a hungry one. There’s no place for my libido in this room. Even if he stands in front of me looking like the gods delivered me my very own version of Thor.

I’m here to heal Noah’s body, if I can heal some portion of my guilt in the process… all the better.

Running Noah through various stretches and simple strength exercises, I quickly get an understanding of the condition of his body. He’s still in excellent shape, his only hinderance is from the hip injury.

“It’s been years since your injury. Did you quit physical therapy earlier than you should have?” I ask as I guide him through a few poses. To his credit, he hasn’t complained about me keeping his routine to mostly yoga today. A few athletes I worked with in San Francisco threw fits if I even suggested it. Noah’s taken it with grace. Honestly, his flexibility is light years ahead of where I expected it to be. There’s still room for improvement, but it won’t take long to get him where he should be.

“No, I think I just had a horrible therapist. She was a bitch. I didn’t like her much,” he answers.

“You don’t like me much, either.”

“I’ll do my best not to run you off until after I’m healed.”

“For what you’re paying me, it will take a lot to get me packing.”

“We’ll see,” he says ominously.

I finish his workout with a massage and some assisted stretching, aiming to further loosen his muscles. Once done, I retreat to my room as fast as I can. Being professional with Noah is going to be hard. Having my hands on him, running them along his taut body, reminds me of better times. Reminds me of what I gave up.

What I threw away.

About the book:

Mistress.

Whore.

Lorelai has been called every name in the book. Except for the ones she’s always dreamed of.

My love.

Mine.

Noah Anders is the only man to have ever owned her heart. But it’s her soul he wants.

Theirs is a battle of wills, tempers, ego, friendship, and loyalty.

He wants retribution.

She just wants to survive.

Silent Chaos: a hate to lovers, second chance, rock star romance by Nikki Ash is releasing in ONE WEEK (9/29)! But while we wait, I have an excerpt to share with you…
***
“We’re playing a game,” Blondie says, oblivious to the tension Kaylee brought with her into the room. “Never Have I Ever… Heard of it?”
Kaylee’s brow furrows. “The high school game?”
“Yep,” I say, opening the bottle and pouring her a shot. “Whose turn is it?” I glance around. “You know what, I’ll go.” My eyes lock on hers. “Let’s see…” I think for a second before the perfect one comes to me. “I got it. Never have I ever…cheated on the person I claimed to love.”
“Oh, no, I’ve never done that,” one of the women says.
“Real mature, Braxton,” Kaylee hisses.
“Drink up, sweetheart.” I smirk. “Hell, maybe you should have two shots for that one.”
Kaylee throws the shot in my face and stalks out, slamming the door behind her.
“How long are you going to punish her for?” Gage asks as soon as she’s gone.
“Until she’s hurting as much as she hurt me.”

EXCERPT:

I lean toward her and slip my arm around her waist as I draw her in closer to me, and my chest aches with regret. What happened between us that so much time has gone by without this?

She links her arms around my neck the same way she did when we were teenagers, and I hold her a beat longer than I should.

I bury my face in her neck as I cling on a little more tightly to her. I can practically taste her skin, the delicate porcelain that always beckoned to me.

There’s so much I want to say, so much I need to say, and yet…

I can’t seem to form the words.

This hug, it’s getting too long. I know it is. But time seems to be standing still as I hold her.

I feel someone’s hand on my bicep, a gentle tap, and I realize it’s my dad trying to move me along. I finally pull back.

I clear my throat as I try to force away the emotion lumped there. “It’s good to see you.”

Her eyes glisten, and she brushes away a tear that spills onto her cheek. “It’s good to see you, too,” she murmurs with a tremble to her voice. “Are you in town long?”

I shake my head. “I need to get back to Vegas tonight. I have a plane to catch in a few hours.” She nods as she averts her gaze to the ground.

I duck down to try to catch her eye again, and hers soften when they fall upon me. “I’m sorry. I wish I could stay.”

“Thank you for coming. It means…” She lifts a shoulder as she clears her throat. “It means a lot.”

I reach down and squeeze her hand. “I wouldn’t have missed it.”

I still love her.

Those feelings still burn bright, and seeing her standing here in front of me only reminds me of how some things in this life never fade away.

Blurb:

I fell for the boy next door, and then my father ripped it all away from us. The first person to catch my eye in a long time is a colleague who tells me what we just did over his desk will never happen again. And then my mother calls with news from back home. I have to head back to the small town my father forced me to leave seven years ago knowing the boy I still love will show up, too.

When I finally see him, it’s clear we have unfinished business. But it doesn’t matter. His life is in the Vegas spotlight now, where he plays pro football and goes home to his wife. My life is in Chicago now, where I embark on a torrid affair with my colleague. And then two little pink lines show up with the power to change everything. The first time I saw them, my world imploded. This time will be different. It has to be. I won’t be making the same rookie mistake again.

𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 is the first book in the 𝐕𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐞𝐬: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 series. This series must be read in order.

More Than I Could Excerpt Reveal

MORE THAN I COULD by Adriana Locke Release Date: September 30th Genre/Tropes: Single Dad/Blue Collar/Nanny/Close Proximity/Grumpy-Sunshine/Small Town Romance   Add to Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/31686622-more-than-i-could         EXCERPT “If you’d rather call for a tow, that’s fine.” A faint smirk settles on his lips. “But let me give you a little heads-up.” “What about?” “It’s almost seven o’clock on a Friday night. Tucker, your savior tow truck driver, is currently occupying the last barstool at the Wet Whistle, knocking back cold ones left and right. He ain’t coming to get you until tomorrow afternoon at best. So if you wanna wait it out, I’d find a blanket. It gets cold around here at night.” He knows he made his point. The smugness in his features gives him away. I wish I was ballsy enough to wait for Tucker or, at the very least, call this guy’s bluff. Unfortunately for me, I listen to too many crime podcasts, I’m scared of the dark, and I really, really just want to get to the hotel tonight and take a hot bath. “Suit yourself,” he says, turning like he’s going to leave. Wait.” Against my better judgment, I unlock the door. I climb out of the car before I can think about it. That’s my second mistake today.       Blurb: This grumpy hero makes things hard for the nanny. You know what? I’m over him. His moods. The verbal sparring. Those biceps that look like they were cut from marble. Okay, maybe I’m not over him being shirtless. Chase Marshall is a single dad with a daughter to love, so fighting with me shouldn’t be a priority. But he can’t seem to stay away. The lingering looks when he thinks I’m not watching. The seemingly innocent touches while making breakfast. The smirks gracing his lips after I’m irritated by his antics. He’s ridiculously sweet to his daughter. I even catch glimpses of how charming he could be to me—if he wanted to. But that’s the problem. He acts like he doesn’t want to. That he doesn’t want me. He does. It’s in the innuendos, the way he places his hand in the small of my back—the almost kisses while we’re putting away groceries. The way he comes running when I see a spider and checks on me before he goes to bed. Even if he does grumble about it. I might not be totally over my boss, but I’m going to make him think I am. Let’s see how frustrated Mr. Marshall gets now.   From USA Today Bestselling author Adriana Locke comes a grumpy/sunshine, blue-collar single dad, nanny romance. This small-town romance is a standalone novel with tons heat and even more heart.   More Than I Could is a standalone in the Coming Home series where one author a month will be delivering a brand-new story about coming home.       About the Author: USA Today and Washington Post bestselling author Adriana Locke lives and breathes books. After years of slightly obsessive relationships with the flawed bad boys created by other authors, Adriana has created her own.   She resides in the Midwest with her husband, sons, and two dogs. She spends a large amount of time playing with her kids, drinking coffee, and cooking. You can find her outside if the weather’s nice and there’s always a piece of candy in her pocket. Crash!
Shit. Billie and I looked at each other. A devilish smirk spread across her face…and then she turned and bolted.
I looked around. The coast seemed clear, so I ran as fast as I could while pushing a heaping cart full of crap. For the last hour and a half, Billie had been picking things out and holding them up to show me. If I agreed, she chucked them over her shoulder for me to catch with the cart. I’d been zigging and zagging, trying to scoop up all the merchandise she threw as I followed her around—both of us laughing like school kids the entire time. That is, until I missed that last toss and a glass bowl shattered on the floor.
IKEA was a giant maze, and both of us kept running, turning left and then right, until we finally arrived in the warehouse portion of the store, which was right before the checkout line. Billie leaned over with her hands on her knees, huffing and puffing.
“I think we’re in the clear,” she said.
“Pretty sure I would’ve rather paid for the twelve-dollar bowl than make a run for it. This cart is so full, it almost tipped like ten times.”
She laughed. “Did we get everything we need?”
“I’m not sure. But we definitely bought a lot of shit we don’t need. Like I think we could have done without the motorized ice cream cone spinners. The tenant can lick their own ice cream.”
Billie grinned. “Those are for me and Saylor. They light up, too!”
I snorted. “Come on, let’s check out before I’m completely broke.”
While we loaded everything onto the conveyor belt, I lifted my chin toward the in-store restaurant located just after the cashier stations. “You still up for meatballs?”
“Uh…hello? It’s the only reason I came.”
I clutched my hand over my heart. “Oww, that hurts. And here I thought you came for the company.”
After we were all checked out, I wheeled the cart over to a table for two in the corner of the restaurant. “Why don’t you stay here with the stuff, and I’ll go get us some meatballs.”
“Okay. But can you get me a drink, too, please? I’m so thirsty.”
When I came back, I set two big plates of meatballs on the table.
“Did you forget the drinks?” Billie asked.
I grinned and lifted a finger. “Actually, I didn’t. I brought them.” My gym bag from earlier had been lying on the bottom shelf underneath the cart since we walked in. Taking it out, I unzipped and started to unpack. “Wine, madame?” I held a bottle of merlot over one arm, showing the label like a maître d’.
Billie cracked up. “You brought wine with you? I thought it was strange when you took your duffle bag into the store. But I figured maybe your wallet was in it and stuff.”
I shrugged. “What choice did I have? You won’t go out with me, so I have to make the best out of our undate at IKEA.” I unloaded two plastic wine glasses, white cloth napkins, and a candleholder with a red candle.
Billie picked up the candle and examined it before raising a brow. “A winter village scene?”
I shrugged. “They’re Christmas candles. I only had an hour to get out of the house with a four-year-old. Don’t judge.”
The looks we got from the people around us as we ate meatballs by candlelight were pretty comical. I was also pretty sure it was against the rules to have an open flame in IKEA, let alone an open bottle of wine, but evidently the people behind the counter hadn’t read the employee rule book to be certain. Either way, the smile on Billie’s face made it all worthwhile. After we were done eating, I blew out the candle and started to pack up.
“You know…” Billie shook her head. “I think you just snuck a date into our undate.”
I shoved the cork back into the top of the wine bottle and zippered it into my duffle. “I did not.”
She squinted at me. “I’m pretty sure you did. What’s the difference between what we just did and a date? We shared a candlelight meal with wine and cloth napkins.”
I leaned down and whispered in her ear. “The difference is, you don’t get to come at the end.”
When I pulled back, Billie’s jaw was hanging open. I freaking loved that she looked so affected. She swallowed. “Is that the way all your dates end?”
I shook my head back and forth slowly. “No, but it’s damn straight the way ours would.”

BLURB

It all started when I hosted a little party for a bunch of new friends.
Though “friends” might not be the right word since the invitees were all the women I’d found out my boyfriend was talking to behind my back. When the guest of honor walked in—aka my now ex—things took a turn…
Unfortunately, a stranger witnessed the whole blowout. I was in a mood that night and ended up giving this gorgeous guy an attitude, too. As if my night could get any worse, before he stormed off, he informed me he was actually my landlord.
Colby Lennon, along with three of his friends, owned the building where my tattoo shop was located. He and I were total opposites. He wore a tie, oozed confidence that came with years of women falling at his feet, and wasn’t afraid to say what he wanted, which lately—was me.
I hated that I found myself attracted to him. Especially since I was supposed to be on a self-imposed dating hiatus. Yet the two of us couldn’t seem to stay away from each other. We started hanging out, as friends. I even went as far as making rules for what he’d dubbed our “undates.”
But eventually, our explosive attraction became too much to bear, and we broke our resolve. I let my guard down and started to really fall for Colby.
Nothing could have prepared me for the ride he took me on. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for where I’d wind up when the ride was over.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

He’s big, bearded, and badass, hiding out in paradise.

Taciturn Alaskan pipeline hotshot Jake Sloan traveled halfway around the globe to escape tragedy and betrayal. Plans of kicking around cobblestone streets for a few weeks morph into an on-the-spot hire as head groundskeeper at a swanky chateau resort. The snobby guests are as tough to swallow as the slimy snails, but the scenery just got a helluva lot better, in the form of a gorgeous, golden-eyed goddess. Might be time to get sociable…

She’s resigned to the bridesmaid blues, but that changes rapidement.

Cee Cee Butler has signed up for bridezilla servitude to her cousin in exchange for seven days on the famed Cote d’Azur. It’s no cakewalk, but the waitress/wannabe author vows to be the perfect maid—until she locks eyes with the brawny ex-pat slinging the suitcases. Sweatin’ like a sonofabitch, I took stock of the crowd of fancy folks spilling out of the expanded Escalade, masking my distaste.

Another Downton Abbey matron…

A harassed-looking walrus with his cell glued to his ear…

A bunch of preps decked out in seersucker and stripes, obnoxiously loud, the whole pack of ʼem falling all over some small, dark-haired wom—

Whoa, wait.

Wait.

Holy fuck.

The clump of prepsters shifted and separated, and suddenly, I was gazing at the most gorgeous girl I have ever seen in my life, glowing like a mirage on the cobblestones some ten-odd feet away.

Holy. Fuck.

My mouth dried as I looked the brunette over, rapidly eye guzzling before she glanced to the left and caught me.

I had a chintzy two seconds, when what I wanted was an hour.

A day.

A week.

Hell, a damn eternity. That’s how fucking fine the beauty was.

Goddamn my soul, finer than fuckin’ fine…

Standing a petite five-foot pretty-much-nothing, she was sweetly stacked, rocking a jawdropping set of curves that didn’t freaking quit

Aw, man, check out those high, tight tits. And Christ Jesus, that ass!

She stretched, flicking back long pieces of just-outta-bed curls, black and glossy as sin.

Damn. What I wouldn’t give to sink my fingers into that silk and push that pretty head down, down, dow—

“YOU! Move it with that cart, man!”

The walrus shoved his phone away and gestured me over with a bellow; his skin blotched and sweaty, his neck bulging out of a too-small dress shirt.

“Yeah, comin’..”

I grunted and wheeled toward him, tripping over my clodhoppers as I struggled to ignore the pocket-sized wet dream painted in her pale pink jeans.

Don’t look. Do your job, slob. Don’t look.

Obeying stern mental commands was the work of the devil, and I made it maybe three steps before the woman drew my gaze to her again like a magnet. This time, she wasn’t staring sideways at the chateau, but straight ahead, directly at me.

ZAP!

Our eyes locked and held, and I swear to my dearly departed folks that I almost passed out on the pavers.

Fucking hell, her face! Those incredible, golden-colored eyes…

She blinked thick lashes and flushed, her cheeks turning the same color as her sexy jeans. I clocked her checking me out, her big eyes lingering on my chest and shoulders. Seared as if I’d been torched, my heart pounded and hot blood pooled in my dick as I swallowed, throwing her a crooked smile.

Are you for fucking real, girl?

“Today, man! Let’s go, look sharp!”

Walrus snapped fat fingers under my nose, and I pulled my attention away with an effort, dazed.

“Yeah, on it…” I mumbled, slicking salt off my forehead with the back of a wrist and grabbing for the closest case. The cocksucker weighed a ton, and as I hefted a rectangle of designer leather, the dizziness swelled—little red spots swimming before me in the steamy afternoon air.

Mayday, mayday, feelin’ mighty funky.

I could use a cold glass of water and a cool cloth for my head, if any of you mofos want to help a poor sweat hog out.

Nobody standing around heard my silent SOS, or if they did, they chose to ignore it. Pulled by invisible strings, my neck swiveled sideways, and I fell into the wide eyes still watching me closely.

Jesus, she’s still staring. Does she like what she sees, or is little missy appalled that a classy castle employs such a hulking, unkept beast?

The bus was parked behind the commissary tent. It’s not like they really needed it here, Coventry Park was in their backyard after all. Taylor insisted they needed a place to escape to, and while overzealous fans and the stealthy paparazzi followed the bus after the gig was over, they’d sneak into the town car that waited to take them back to their houses behind the locked gate on Park Place.

Bo tipped the bottle back, emptying the beer down his throat. The rigger had been eyeing him all afternoon and he needed to take the edge off. He canted his chin in the direction of the bus. Dude followed him.

Without saying a word, the rigger unzipped Bo’s jeans and pulled his cock out. Already hard, he hissed at the contact of someone besides himself touching his flesh. He needed this. He needed the cum sucked out of his dick and he needed to get the girl out of his head.

“Want your mouth fucked?”

“I wanna drink your cum.”

“Yeah?” He shoved his fingers in the man’s mouth. “Get ’em nice and wet for me.”

If the dude sucked cock like he was sucking on his fingers, this wouldn’t take long at all.

Bo lowered his pants to his thighs as the rigger lowered his face to his dick. A groan escaped at the first pull of the man’s mouth. Ava came to his mind. He could picture her on her knees for him, long blonde hair fisted in his hand. He could hear her gasping, choking on his length. He could smell her. Raspberries and jasmine petals.

Fuck.

Pushing two fingers inside his ass, Bo fucked the rigger’s face. He opened his eyes, but it was still Ava that he saw. Drinking him in with her big Bambi eyes. Mascara staining her cheeks. So fucking beautiful.

This wasn’t working.

He squeezed his eyes shut, frantically rubbing at the sweet spot inside him. Just. Feels. So. Fucking. Good. Bo railed the man’s mouth until he erupted inside it. Then after, relieved it was finished, he fell back against the sofa. His dick, coated with cum and saliva, bobbed between his thighs. And the door to the bus squeaked open.

“Fucking Christ, man.” Sloan leaned against the banquette. “You know there’s no fucking on the bus.”

The rigger wiped his mouth off with the back of his hand.

“Wasn’t fucking.” Bo snickered, looking for a towel. “Got my dick sucked.”

“Whatever.”

Bo tipped his chin toward the dude, dismissing him. “Thanks, man.”

Sloan watched the rigger get off the bus without a backward glance and tossed him a towel. “Clean yourself up, asshole. The girls are here.”

About the Author

Dyan Layne is a nurse boss by day and the writer of edgy sensual tales by night–and on weekends. Serenity, the first book in the Red Door series, is her debut novel. She’s never without her Kindle, and can usually be found tapping away at her keyboard with a hot latte and a cold Dasani Lime–and sometimes champagne. She can’t sing a note, but often answers in song because isn’t there a song for just about everything? Born and raised a Chicago girl, she currently lives in Tampa, Florida, and is the mother of four handsome sons and a beautiful daughter, who are all grown up now, but can still make her crazy–and she loves it that way! Because normal is just so boring.

Inspired by Hispanic folklore, legends, and myths from the Iberian Peninsula and Central and South America, this bold sequel to Charlie Hernández & the League of Shadows, which Booklist called “a perfect pick for kids who love Rick Riordan” in a starred review, follows Charlie as he continues on his quest to embrace his morphling identity.

Charlie Hernandez still likes to think of himself as a normal kid. But what’s normal about being a demon-slaying preteen with an encyclopedic knowledge of Hispanic and Latino mythology who can partially manifest nearly any animal trait found in nature? Well, not much. But, Charlie believes he can get used to this new “normal,” because being able to sprout wings or morph fins is pretty cool.

But there is a downside: it means having to constantly watch his back for La Mano Peluda’s sinister schemes. And when the leader of La Liga, the Witch Queen Jo herself, is suddenly kidnapped, Charlie’s sure they’re at it again.

Determined to save the queen and keep La Liga’s alliances intact, Charlie and his good friend Violet Rey embark on a perilous journey to track down her captors. As Charlie and Violet are drawn deeper into a world of monstruos and magia they are soon left with more questions than answers—like, why do they keep hearing rumors of dead men walking, and why is Charlie suddenly having visions of an ancient evil: a necromancer priest who’s been dead for more than five centuries?

Charlie’s abuela once told him that when dead men walk, the living run in fear. And Charlie’s about to learn the truth of that—the hard way.
