Autumn LaRosa has been playing defense since the moment she met Julius Cunningham. After accepting a position as a meteorologist in Portland, she strives to make a good first impression. Then she meets the arrogant wide receiver who belittles her in front of her new friends. She could have walked off the sting of his bitter words, but he keeps showing up in her social circle.

Now, she is determined to meet him at the line of scrimmage and prove sheโ€™s not one to back down.

Julius Cunningham is well aware thereโ€™s a flag on the play after his harsh words to Autumn. The more he sees of Portlandโ€™s new weather girl, the clearer it becomes his judgments of her were unfounded.

But how can he call a timeout on the animosity he created?

When Autumn attends a charity event with the Pioneer players, she sees an opportunity too tempting to resist. Julius looks miserable being a part of the date auction, making it even more fun for Autumn to bid. Will she use the opportunity for some good old-fashioned payback? Or will this be their fresh start at the twenty-yard line?

Get ready for the snap and sprint for the end zone because Autumn and Julius are headed for either a tackle or a touchdown!

Release : Payoff Pitch by Kaylee Rose

Title: Payoff Pitch
Series: Venom Baseball Series Book 1
Author: Kaylee Rose
Release: March 25, 2023
Genre: Contemporary Sports Romance/Second Chance Romance
Publisher: Redโ€™s Bookshelf Publishing

Cover Model: Marcel Pospiech

Whoever said out of sight, out of mind must be crazy.

There wasnโ€™t a day since I left that I didnโ€™t think about her.

As much as I wanted to stay with her in Boulder City, it was never an option.

Caroline had big dreams of becoming a chef, and Iโ€™d just signed my rookie contract.
It was the chance of a lifetime for both of us.

After years of no contact, Iโ€™d assumed Iโ€™d lost her for good, but when I injured my pitching arm, I was given a second chance to right the wrongs from the past.

This is my last chance and the biggest payoff pitch of my life.

How quickly weโ€™ve fallen back into old ways surprises me. Maybe Iโ€™ll be able to pull off being just friends after all.

โ€œNow, go take a shower while I make lunch.โ€ I clap my hands and rub them together like a mad scientist. โ€œWhere do I begin?โ€ Kathy did a fantastic job stocking this refrigerator with all sorts of gourmet foods. I run through a recipe in my head that I think Micha will like and will work with the ingredients on hand.

โ€œCaroline.โ€ Michaโ€™s deep voice close to my ear makes me jump.

โ€œDamn it.โ€ Lost in my thoughts, I hadnโ€™t heard him approach. I clutch my chest. โ€œYou scared the crap out of me.โ€

โ€œSorry.โ€ His brow furrows like heโ€™s struggling with something.

โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong?โ€

โ€œNothingโ€™s wrongโ€ฆโ€ He pauses like heโ€™s carefully considering his words, then leans closer and whispers, โ€œโ€ฆIโ€™m glad youโ€™re here.โ€

And just like that, the friendly back and forth we had a few seconds ago is obliterated. Iโ€™m pulled back to when kissing and exploring each otherโ€™s bodies were a regular part of our lives.

The air is thick with sexual tension and no matter how hard I try, I canโ€™t find the energy to look away.

His gaze lands on my lips.

I resist the urge to lick them and draw in a staggered breath. My hands find their way to rest on his hips while my legs turn to jelly.

His blue eyes look deep into mine.

Is he going to kiss me? Do I want him to kiss me? Should I kiss him?

Writing time is her time, and she protects the hard-won moments fiercely.

Kayleeโ€™s award-winning series, The Weight of the Badge, was written after she attended required law enforcement classes with her husband. The seminars focused on the stress a first responder faces daily, how it affects their lives both on and off the job and the continually growing number of law enforcement suicides. With her books and experience married to a law enforcement officer, Kaylee found herself armed with the perfect platform to use her voice and subtly spread the statistics others may not know. Kaylee Rose is passionate about sharing sexy stories with an important message mixed in.

As a mom of four boys and a competitive streak of her own, Kaylee spent over twenty years coaching youth sports.

Kayleeโ€™s husband is her biggest supporter, believing in her even when she can not, and writing love stories comes naturally to her after falling in love with him at first sight.

Kaylee has teamed up with best-selling author Zane Michaelson for her first extra-steamy co-write, Hot in the City.

Keep your eyes out for future collaborations from this writing duo.

Synopsis

Prince Taza is a seahorse, the sole male offspring of the Coushrin king, and heir to the throne. Sounds great, right? Not really. For one thing, two crazy female seahorses are vying to impregnate him and become the next queen of the Coushrin dynasty because seahorses mate for life. He doesnโ€™t want to be just a breeder while his wife rules the seas. But if being the prey and intended brood-stallion of two insane females isnโ€™t bad enough, Tazaโ€™s also being chased by a human whoโ€™s determined to attain immortality by eating him. Stir fried, easy on the garlic. What does he do? Flee to a vampire bar on the surface world, where he meets Astika, a Hindu Naga god. Astikaโ€™s been dispatched on a foolโ€™s errand, because his advice to his uncle and grandfatherโ€™s harems is causing mayhem in the kingdom. He wasnโ€™t supposed to meet a seahorse prince, save his life, and end up mated in the process. But when Astika saves Prince Taza from the human who might just be crazier than the two seahorses chasing him, Taza does the only smart thing and pledges himself to the Naga. For life. Since theyโ€™re stuck with each other, Astika might as well see what itโ€™s like with a seahorse. Together, out of the wildest circumstances imaginable, these two lovers create Absolute Perfection.

All rights reserved. Copyright ยฉ2023 Stephanie Burke โ€œYouโ€™re a dick, and I donโ€™t think I like you.โ€ Chris growled the words while leaning with arms braced on his bar. โ€œI have a mighty fine dick, thank you very much, and I really donโ€™t care what you think.โ€ Astika stared at the bartender as he answered with all the sarcasm he could muster. โ€œI just need some information and some quiet, and in that order.โ€ โ€œI can tell you the same thing I told your contacts. I donโ€™t have the information you seek no matter what your family told youโ€ — the bartender began to grin a little maniacally — โ€œbut boy, do I have the perfect drink for you.โ€ โ€œI donโ€™t drink.โ€ โ€œMaybe you should start.โ€ This came from what must be the bastard of a bartenderโ€™s wife, the Naga decided. She peeked out from behind the swinging doors to the kitchen before she disappeared again, no doubt to fry up some small, defenseless creature for consumption. โ€œIt just might soften your disposition a bit.โ€ Everyone knew that the vampires who operated this bar worked as a team, and it was said that the female was often more trouble than the male. โ€œI really donโ€™t care if you do or if you donโ€™tโ€ — the vampire shrugged inelegantly — โ€œbut I have to agree with her and say that maybe drinking would improve your attitude.โ€ Chris gave him his words back, smiling as a small frown curved down the corners of Astikaโ€™s rather thin lips. โ€œYou came into my bar tossing your name and title around and demanding things, Naga, and itโ€™s my job as the best bartender in the tristate area to see to it that you leave with exactly what you need.โ€ โ€œBut not what I want.โ€ โ€œBuddy, havenโ€™t you heard that you canโ€™t always get what you want?โ€ called a youngish female voice. Astika felt his frown grow deeper as he looked around the place. There were two small children staring back at him. It was the girl child who had spoken the sarcastic words, her dark eyes glowing as she stared up at him. Her brown hair was styled into two ponytails, and she had the same countenance as Chris, the bearded asshole of a bartender who refused to give him straight answers. She appeared to be around seven or eight — with vampires it was hard to tell the age of their young ones — but her eyes looked ancient. The boy child was a bit smaller than her, with dark blond hair and green eyes and looked just like the female whoโ€™d popped out of the kitchen earlier to add sage bits of advice. The family resemblance was stunning. But the young male vamp said nothing about the antics of the adults, merely shaking his head at their childish behavior. He absently rolled a chess piece between two fingers before boldly reaching out to the board that sat between him and the small female who could only be his sister. He then blithely moved her queen a box over before making his own move. โ€œCheckmate,โ€ he declared, his face looking as innocent as a preacherโ€™s daughter. โ€œCheater!โ€ his sister squawked, turning back to their game, and then the familial arguing commenced as the pair proceeded to ignore the adults once more. โ€œYou make that sound like a threat.โ€ The blue-haired Naga disregarded the goings-on of the young ones and focused his attention on the bartender again. โ€œIt sounds like fact to me.โ€ Chris sucked at his front fangs as he reached for a collection of tall bottles and a metal shaker. โ€œYou would do well to listen.โ€ Then with a few deft moves, Chris made the bottles dance. It was an art form the way the muscular brunet juggled three uncapped bottles, tossing them over his head, behind his back, and twisting them in midair, never allowing a drop to spill where it wasnโ€™t supposed to. Finally, in short, controlled flicks of his wrist, measured amounts of liquor were poured midjuggle into a tall metal shaker. Once the proper amounts were reached, he flipped the bottles back into their places and took up the metal container. The bartender capped it and began to shake it gently as he eyed the blue-haired man. After a moment and a few considering looks, he placed the shaker on the bar and retrieved a tall, frosty glass. He poured the pale-colored mixed drink with a flourish. And after a final squirt of juice from his bar gun, he whipped out a cherry from its dispenser and tossed it into the glass before he slid the drink in front of the frowning Naga. โ€œNot impressed?โ€ Chris asked, flashing just a bit of fang from behind his neatly trimmed mustache as he grinned widely at his customer. Astika just glared. โ€œToo bad.โ€ He attempted to sound remorseful and failed. โ€œAnd I gave you the free show and everything.โ€ โ€œI donโ€™t drink.โ€ โ€œYouโ€™ll drink this.โ€ Chris chuckled. โ€œAfter all, it was tailor-made just for you.โ€ Astika reached out with long, thin fingers and tapped at the condensation beading up on the glass before him. He pulled it closer to himself, eyeing the slightly blue liquid, before inhaling deeply. He raised an eyebrow as he stared at Chris. โ€œIโ€™m not getting anything out of you until I drink this, right?โ€ โ€œSmarter than you look.โ€ And from the look in Chrisโ€™s eye, his estimation of him put him somewhere between arrogant ass and airhead lackey. He looked behind Chris to stare at the mirrored wall behind the bar and tilted his head, trying to see what the vampire was seeing. He had long, flowing deep blue hair — not the electric stuff you find in bottles, but a deep dark blue that had subtle purple highlights. His eyes were beetle black, no light escaping and allowing no emotion to show. His nose was rather aquiline, his nostrils thin and flaring, his face narrow with a slightly pointy chin. His body gave off a useless-pretty-boy facade as well; he was thin and tall with a modelโ€™s body and tight musculature. But most damning was that he was quite feminine in the face. He knew he was the epitome of the word twink. He appeared childlike but was saved from being almost too cute to be male by his height, the thin lips, and attitude. โ€œGee, thanks,โ€ he deadpanned before lifting the drink to his mouth. โ€œWhat is this called, anyway?โ€ โ€œWell, they donโ€™t have a drink called jackass yet, so I did you one better. This, my friend, is perfect for you. Itโ€™s called an Absolut Fucker.โ€ โ€œIโ€™m not your friend.โ€ The Naga paused with the drink in his hand, nearly to his lips. โ€œAnd you may call me Astika.โ€

Release : Block’s Road by Karen Renee

Title: Block’s Road
Series: Riot MC Biloxi Series
Author: Karen Renee
Genre: MC Romance/Suspense
Release Date: March 7, 2023

A night with a vigilante biker wasnโ€™t my wisest choice.

I canโ€™t resist the cocky motorcycle man, even though Block is old enough to be my father. He said he didnโ€™t do commitments, which made it the perfect night of fun.
Except afterward, nobody else appeals to me.
Block shows up weeks later, and I break my one-time-only rule. I wonโ€™t fall for his arrogant smile and burly, tattooed build. Itโ€™s one last night to get him out of my system. Neither of us wants a relationship. Every wicked thing he does to me feels different – like it could be the real thing.
When a threat lands on my doorstep, one final night with Block becomes a three-day-weekend. He insists on helping me resolve my problems which only brings us closer together.
The day after our weekend together, I find out heโ€™s my new boss.
Life always shoots me down and being with Block is no different.
Problem is, Block thinks we can be an exception.
I donโ€™t want to be an exception. We should quit while we can.

If you love a sassy heroine, one-night-to-forever romance, and an alpha hero who sees what he wants and wonโ€™t let go, then youโ€™ll love Blockโ€™s Road.

Uncle Mickโ€™s eyes froze on me. โ€œWhatโ€™s going on?โ€

โ€œWhy?โ€

โ€œSomethingโ€™s going on.โ€

โ€œNothing is going on.โ€

He set a wine glass in front of me, nodded deeply, and poured a glass of red. โ€œItโ€™s like that.โ€

I smiled. โ€œItโ€™s not like anything, but Iโ€™ll always take a glass of red wine.โ€

His brows furrowed and he gave the wine glass a pointed look. โ€œWho said this is for you?โ€

I laughed.

โ€œAre you driving?โ€

โ€œTook an Uber.โ€

His concerned tone held a hint of demand. โ€œWhy would you do that?โ€

โ€œMy carโ€™s at the shop. Now, can I have my vino?โ€

โ€œYou have boy troubles, yes?โ€

I fought an eye-roll. Block was all man. โ€œNo.โ€

Auntie Stella swept back in from the kitchen with a smile on her face. As she came closer, her smile dimmed.

โ€œWhatโ€™s her problem?โ€ She asked Uncle Mick rather than me.

Uncle Mickโ€™s eyes cut to me with a look of regret. โ€œSheโ€™s got boy problems.โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t have boy problems.โ€

Uncle Mick looked at Stella and nodded. โ€œBoy problems.โ€

Auntie Stella glanced between us. โ€œSheโ€™s never with a boy long enough to have problems.โ€

โ€œExactly,โ€ I said, snagging the glass of wine and sipping.

Auntie Stella closed the distance between us and leaned against the counter. โ€œSpill.โ€

I set the glass down with a sigh. โ€œI went to a Fourth of July partyโ€”โ€

Uncle Mick spun around. โ€œNo! Youโ€™re not with a biker!โ€

I shook my head. โ€œYou like Gamble.โ€

He turned his head, giving me side-eye. I didnโ€™t know if it was his dark hair and dark eyes, or the amount of life heโ€™d lived, but he did it so much better than anyone else I knew. โ€œHeโ€™s an exception. Only got room to make one exception around here.โ€

I laughed. โ€œYouโ€™re so full of it!โ€

He threw a dish towel over his shoulder. As he headed to the back, he said, โ€œYou can do better. Kick this man to the curb.โ€

Auntie Stella shook her head. โ€œIgnore him. Tell me all about it.โ€

I grinned and gave her the pertinent details. From Blockโ€™s physical appearance to how insanely protective he was, and how it all imploded before it ever really began.

The bells on the front doors tinkled, but I kept my focus on Stella.

She glanced at the patrons and back to me. โ€œSo, tell me more. This man rides a motorcycle, heโ€™s stocky, has no hair, and striking blue eyesโ€ฆ does he also have beautifully-inked arms?โ€

My head tilted. โ€œYeah, one of them is. Why?โ€

She nodded. โ€œDonโ€™t move, but he looks at you like youโ€™re a work of art, my dear. Thatโ€™s not something Iโ€™d throw away because of your job.โ€

โ€œI got bills, Auntie Stella.โ€

Her stern expression made me brace. โ€œJobs come and go, Heidi. Love is different โ€“ especially good love. The right love for you. No matter what my stubborn mule of a husband says, heโ€™d tell you to hang onto this man, too. Especially if he saw what I just did.โ€

I shook my head. โ€œItโ€™s entirely too soon for the l-word. However heโ€™s looking at me, itโ€™s lust, not love.โ€

She smiled coyly. โ€œOr better yet, itโ€™s both.โ€
