I’m the party-boy extraordinaire and perpetual playboy of the Seattle Sockeyes. My reputation has been shot to hell, I’m on thin ice with the team, and I’m financially broke AF. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and I’m about to agree to the last thing an irresponsible dude like me should ever do.

Darcy is the sweetheart of reality TV and every guy’s girl-next-door fantasy, but her luster is fading, her show is on the chopping block, and she’s now living in my condo. Did I forget to mention she’s also my fake fiancé? And not a fake engagement with benefits, but the hands-off, leave-me-alone except when the cameras are rolling engagement.

I crave attention and notoriety. She craves stability and love. We both have our secrets…and chemistry. We have a lot of chemistry. Together we’re explosive, but explosions have a way of hurting those closest to the blast. And this celebrity match made in heaven is about to detonate.

Nice guys finish last, but not this time…

I’m angry and ticked off. Period. End of story.

Well, that’s not entirely true. It’s the start of the story, actually.

I’m August Hawkins, and I’m the nicest guy you’ll ever meet.

But right now, I’m cranky and sick of being “Mr. Nice Guy,” especially working for a record label that’s run by my ex-girlfriend and her new fiancé. And that’s not even the worst of it. The label signs a sultry, sexy, and shameless singer, and they want me to manage her.

Perfect plan, right? No chance. This mischievous singer just so happens to be the same irresistible woman I spent one night with on my first night in New Orleans. And now Scarlett, the sex-pot-jazz crooner, isn’t playing nice with her seductive ways and tantalizing body.

She knows I’m too nice to play dirty, but it’s all I want. Some way, somehow, I need to cure this Scarlett fever.

Vineyard is the first book in the Drake Wines Series. It’s a steamy romance full of love and loss that will take you on a ride alongside the characters. Fall in love with Makenna and Brady today!

Brady collapses on top of me, and I wrap my arms and legs around him, not wanting to let him go, ever.

He rolls us over, until I’m top of him, but we’re still joined together.

“Ummmm. So guys?” Caleb coughs outside the bedroom door. “Now that you guys are awake, would you like to join the rest of us for lunch?”

Lunch? I look over to Brady’s phone on the bedside table and see that it is in fact, after midday! Then it hits me what he said.

“What do you mean, ‘the rest of us’?” I scream at him through the door.

“Ahhh well.” I can picture him rubbing his hand over his face, even though there’s a solid door between us.

“Caleb.” I ground out. “Who else is here, or coming here?”

“Well, it would appear that only you two are coming, here, and boy aren’t I glad I’m the one who discovered that?” He mumbles, but I can still hear him. “I really hate it when I get outvoted on things in this family. Truly fucking hate it!”

“Who else is here, Caleb?’ I demand.

“Well, you’ll be happy to know that only your brothers and Jules are here at the moment.” He pauses for a second and then continues. “Phew, it would seem like your parents just arrived Brady, and I’m sure we can all agree, that was a blessing.”

“What’s taking so long?” I hear Logan’s booming voice outside the door, but he’s obviously further away. “Why are you standing outside of the door Caleb? You’re meant to be making sure they’re getting up and moving.”

“Ohhh, believe me they were up and moving big brother.” Caleb tells him with a laugh.

I look down at Brady, because his entire body is shaking with barely held in laughter, but I can’t get off him, because his arms are around me so tight, I imagine it’s what being held in a vice feels like.

“This isn’t funny Brady!”

Before he can say anything, not that I’m sure he could through his laughter, Logan’s voice booms out again.

“What the hell are you talking about Caleb? Are they up or not?”

“Well, after all that, I don’t think Brady could possibly be up anymore, but feel free to ask him.”

“I will, because you’re not really helping.” The door handle moves, and Caleb’s laughter gets louder.

“NO!” Brady and I shout together, and the door stops moving.

“I’m telling you bro, I don’t think you want to go in there. Not unless you want to see your sister in some kind of position you’ll need to bleach your eyes after.”

“What are you talking about?” Logan demands, and I can imagine the face Caleb gives him as Logan starts to stutter out words. “Ohh! You mean? Ohhh! F**k!”

Chelle lives in Melbourne, Australia with her partner of almost 25 years, their two teenage sons and their 5 year old Irish Wolfhound, Sarge, who is at the centre of all the mischief in the house!

Her love affair with writing started when she was a teenager but she never thought she could make a career out of it until just over three years ago. That’s when she wrote a very short story and showed it to a friend, who then showed it to their other friends, who asked for the rest of the story. That short story is not the final chapter, after many additions and edits, of her first book, Sneaky!

Sneaky was published in 2018 and she hasn’t looked back since, publishing another seven books in the years following, with another six planned for this year alone!

“Okay.” Brandon slaps his hands together and rubs them villainously. “Let’s go get our palms read.”
“In there?” I point to the double-gallery house behind him. There isn’t a sign. There’s a blue neon light in the shape of a palm in the window, and in the middle it says, ‘Palm Readings.’ Nothing else. No business name or anything. If anything, the building gives me the creeps. It’s two blocks over from Bourbon Street, so it isn’t as busy. It’s dark; the only light illuminating the sidewalk is from the blue glow of the sign.
“Look, this place has got to be legit, right? I saw a flyer at the bar,” Brandon protests.
Michelle is grabbing my hand tight and hiding behind me, peeking out from around me. “It looks creepy,” she whispers, just as the wind blows, causing the wind chimes hanging above the doorway to tinkle mysteriously.
I narrow my eyes at the musical instruments creating gorgeous high-pitched tunes, but the closer I look at them and the more my eyes adjust to the night, I begin to notice something off about them. I take a step forward, the porch groaning as I step onto it.
“What are you doing?” Michelle hisses to keep her voice low so no one inside hears us.
Doubtful, since no one seems to be here.
“How have we lived in New Orleans all this time and not done this? I’m excited.” Brandon goes to knock, but I grab his wrist before he can.
“Because locals fucking know better. Either you dive into the real shit or you don’t. Tourists don’t care,” I explain.
I keep my arm stretched out to keep Michelle behind me. Something feels off. I look around noticing no one else around. The upbeat jazz music has faded in the distance, but the cheers of drunk people can still be heard.
The clonks of hooves tap against the road, which has me turning my head to see a horse and carriage. The loud wail of the chimes rings again, bringing my attention back to the odd shapes. Are those… my eyes widen when I finally see what I think they are.
“Oh my god, are those bones?” I reach up to touch them to see if maybe they feel real, but Michelle stops me.
“Don’t you dare. If they are bones, you could catch something…”
“They aren’t real. Come on.” Brandon runs his finger over what looks like a ribcage. “It’s supposed to be spooky. Gives it the ‘real feel.’”
“Your friend is right, mon cher.” An old woman’s Cajun accent has us all jumping and taking a step back.
When the hell did she open the door?
“‘Dem bones are from a cat. Don’t worry. It was already dead. Did not want to let it go to waste.” She rings the chimes by pulling the spine that sways in the middle and runs it across the ribs to create more music.
Honestly, now all I hear are sad meows.

K.L. Savage decided they were tired of looking for the kind of books they wanted to read. They had an itch that needed to be scratched, and as every girl knows, nothing scratches better than an alpha.

They write about gritty, alpha males, sometimes their dark sides, and the women they love.

If you have the same itch, their alpha males should fix that.

A sinner met a saint,
Two worlds collided,
And everything burned.

I’ve done everything right.
Playing the part of the demure famiglia daughter,
And hiding my pain beneath makeup and pretty dresses.
But marrying a man ten years my senior?
Whose words cut like knives,
And lips taste like poison.
This is the one thing I can’t do.

I’ve done nothing right.
I’m not a virtuous man,
I balance on the line between light and dark.
My past is littered with sins,
Each of them is haunting me.
I’m not worthy of the angel with long hair and hazel eyes.
And yet, I’d burn the city to the ground to hold her in my arms.

“What are you trying to escape, bella?” He doesn’t put the car in drive, instead he removes his hand from the gearshift and turns his attention on me. His warm eyes penetrate me, seeing through my brittle exterior, past the façade that my family has created.
What am I trying to escape?
I play with the idea of telling him about my arranged marriage. About the ring that I have stuffed in my underwear drawer back home. About my parents who showed no sympathy when I came back to the kitchen with an angry red mark blooming on my arm.
Today, for the first time since her death, I felt angry with Lily. She met this man and took the easy way out; she jumped to escape him and with her escape she put me directly in the path of the lion.
I want to tell Naz all of this. All the thoughts spiraling through my head that led me to calling Molly and leaving my house tonight.
I don’t though, out of fear that he’ll call me naïve.
A stupid, silly girl.
I was raised in this town, in this family. I know how the game works, I know the power plays, and yet I thought that behaving and looking pretty would somehow exempt me from them.
And what would he say to me? There’s nothing he can do to change this, to fix this broken situation. He knows. I know he knows what my family plans to do. If he’s a true soldier, he’ll probably drive me right back home, dropping me off on the front porch with a bow.
Those deep eyes are studying me as the thoughts roll through my head, threatening to take over and send me back into a panic. His tattooed hand reaches up to his throat, his thumb and forefinger slipping over the St. Jude pendant. I don’t think he even notices that he does it, it’s just an instinct.
Naz is handsome in a bad boy way. He’s not the type of man my parents would ever approve of. The black ink that peeks out of his button-down shirt, working its way toward his throat, would give my mother a heart attack. Even his fingers are covered, the ink extending toward his nail beds. For some reason that I can’t place, it sends a rush of heat to my core.
His hair is slicked back, dark as black ink, and buzzed on either side. He looks well-groomed but there’s a few days’ worth of stubble that covers his chin and my mind wanders to thoughts of how it would feel between my thighs.
“Everything.” I finally answer his question. “I’m trying to escape everything.”
He moves a hand to his face, rubbing over his chin thoughtfully. I don’t want him to overthink this. I want him to take me home; I want to feel him between my legs, his mouth on my skin; I want to erase Davis’ hand from my body; I want to experience a man that I choose.
And I definitely did not choose Davis Lafontaine.
“Take me to your house,” I breathe. “Please.”

Natalia Lourose writes angsty romance about broken people figuring out life and finding love along the way. Television and far too much smut as a teenager left her obsessed with dark-haired bad boys who are moody and wear leather jackets. Tucked away in her office with a dog at her feet, two cats on her keyboard, and husband doing something she is always writing something, or trying to.
